The Beast Inside Me

Hey, what's with that smile?

"Give it back!" Miranda yelled, "No" Jullian said as he stood in front of me. "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way, and trust me I don't want to do it the hard way, it's up to you to decide. This is your last chance" Miranda said, "I said she's not giving you anything! Do your worst" Jullian said, "very well" Miranda replied then in an instant they all disappeared. "Mara, run!" Jullian yelled, I didn't hesitate, I started to make a run for it. I ran real deep into the woods, I had made quite a distance and had started to forget about what was about to unfold, but I was reminded by a painful punch to the face. I was knocked completely off my feet and my head came crashing painfully to the ground, I looked up and saw the figure of a female, only she had wings for hands and had talons for feet, she looked like that Papi girl from monster musume ( an anime, I know what you're thinking, I'm some crazy otaku right? ). Anyways! She wasn't human so I knew instantly she was one of them, then she grabbed me by my neck and lifted me into the sky effortlessly, she began to squeeze tightly, "the crystal" she demanded. She was squeezing really tight, I tried to escape her tight grip but there was no use, I started getting dizzy and lightheaded, I felt like I was going to pass out any second or even die. Then I looked to my left and saw Jullian charge at her with a kick to the head knocking her out completely ( she probably wasn't waking up from that ) I dropped to the ground, Jullian hurried to check if I was okay, I said I was fine, he grabbed my hand and started to run. We ran for quite a while and then the next thing from behind a girl suddenly hugged me and then I magically appeared in another scene, I was somehow teleported, I was now at the top of a cliff.

The girl suddenly threw a punch at me but I dodged in time, then I caught her hand and flipped her over, she crashed head first to the ground ( that was probably gonna leave her unconscious long enough). I was about to start making it down the cliff but I was snatched from above, sharp talons dug into my skin, I looked down and the realization that I was in midair made my stomach turn and made me scream like a hungry toddler. "quiet! You afro headed idiot! Now hand me the crystal!" the bird lady or whatever you wanna call her said as I looked up, "I thought I took care of you! And no I'm not giving you nothing! And hey that's racist!!" I said angrily. "Give me the crystal or you getting dropped honey" she said as she ascended higher, "no" I said mocking her high pitched voice, she became furious "screw you, you little prick" she said as she dropped me. I started dropping hundreds if not thousands of feet, I screamed on top of my lungs, the only thing going through my mind at that moment was how many bones I was going to break when I reached the ground, I even thought I was gonna die so I pretty much accepted my fate. But luckily Jullian's strong hands were there to catch me ( till today still don't know how he was there ) anyways, I was happy I was alive and kissed him on the cheek while we dashed through the woods with lightning speed, "not the time Mara!" Jullian yelled. As we dashed through the forest the next thing I knew I was snatched from my collar out of Jullian's hands and into the trees. For a long time I couldn't see the face of my abductor but when I did it made me cringe, it was some kind of lizard dude, "eww!" I screamed, which made the lizard dude really mad. I know I probably shouldn't judge cos I'm basically a part time beast, but this guy was scary as hell!

Well I'm not gonna get into detail of how ugly he was, well he tried to yank the bag of crystals from my pocket, I kicked him hard in the face and tried to run but I was punched really hard in the face, the hardest I had been punched that night. I fell out of the tree and to the ground, my head was spinning, I finally was able to look up to see the idiot that punched me in the face! I looked up and it was that Brian vampire guy from the first day I met the others. "Crystal!" he ordered quietly as he stretched his hand out, "sorry Dracula, but I'm afraid that's not gonna be possible" I said angrily. He just stared at me with a blank expression then with incredible speed he grabbed me by the collar and kicked me in the head. I let out a loud grunt, as I was about to fall back he kicked me in the head again. After he kicked me about ten times he once again said "crystal!" I was actually seeing stars at that moment, I thought it was just in cartoons but I was legit seeing stars, I was in so much pain I couldn't even talk. Then he punched me in the face this time so hard I lost a tooth, I was bleeding from my mouth and nose and my left eye was swollen shut. What kinda guy was this! How could he seeing me like this not affect him at all, he was so much like Levi from attack on Titan ( don't you dare judge me!) from appearance to behavior and everything! "JULLIAN!" I screamed, "your pathetic boyfriend won't save you this time" Brian said, "wow, I didn't know you could actually talk" I teased, Brian had a little change in expression for the first time in like ever! He looked angry "you've got a bad manner, you little piece of crap!" he said as he kicked me in the head again. Now, he went behind me and began to choke me, everything around me was fading and it was getting hard to keep my eyes open. "Crystal!" he demanded again, how on earth did he expect me to even give him when he had me in that position, he was a terrible interrogator, probably nobody played good cop bad cop with him as a kid. I was fading fast and there was nothing I could do about it, I started to say my goodbyes from this world but then all of a sudden something crashed into the both of us and Brian finally let go of my neck ( hallelujah! ) I could finally breathe again, I felt like I was taking my first breath ever. I looked behind me and saw someone I had wanted to see for so long, it was Jullian! I wanted to hug him or something but I could barely even move. "You're gonna pay for touching her!" Jullian said furious, "try" Brian said so expressionless (that guy!).

Jullian and Brian got into fighting positions and then with lightning speed, and this time I actually mean lightning speed, like they moved so fast they kinda like disappeared. They started to fight in a battle that shook the entire forest, I couldn't even see them I just saw balls of light clashing. The last time I saw Jullian fight it was amazing but this time it was even just more amazing, it was just raw power. They even took the fight into midair and did a lot of other cool magical stuff (I swear I'm not making another anime reference again okay?!). I watched the fight until I saw Brian come crashing down from the sky, he looked in pretty bad shape, I just started laughing my ass off. "How you like it now huh? Eat dirt you idiot!" I laughed, he turned his head to me and frowned, "uh oh" I mumbled under my breath. I saw Jullian descend down from the sky, he had a dark blue aura surrounding his entire body and his dark hair danced to the rhythm of the wind. He looked like a celestial being (a real sexy one) sorry, going a little off point here. Jullian landed one more devastating strike to Brain's chest that made him instantly go unconscious, "wow!" I exclaimed I was marveled at how someone as powerful as Brian could be brought down so effortlessly by Jullian, that just told me how powerful he was and for some reason something kept on telling me that he hadn't shown me his limit yet. Jullian rushed to me and held me tight, he was so furious when he looked at how terrible I was hurt, he blamed himself. I told him I was okay but he just wouldn't listen (I obviously wasn't okay, was just trying to act tough) he offered to use his healing powers on me. It was so amazing how I actually felt myself getting better, it also felt really weird too but oddly soothing. I was already more than halfway healed but then were interrupted by some fish girl and tree guy. "Look, its Bonny and Clyde" the tree guy said as they both started laughing, "Sorry to break this up but I need that crystal right now" the fish girl said. Jullian looked at them in disgust and said "well this will be easy" then he suddenly charged at them and in a few seconds they were beaten to a pulp. Jullian picked me up bridal style and continued to dash through the woods trying to escape.

The same routine repeated itself for about two hours, I was out of breath from all the running and fighting, at least I still had the crystals safe. It was finally 12:00 am, I transformed to beast form, now I assisted Jullian better. After we had fought probably every single non-human we finally saw Miranda. She stared at us with her arms crossed for about a minute, she finally began to speak. "Look at you Jullian, turning against your own family, your only family just cos of some girl. Guys like you make me sick" Miranda said, "Miranda, it's not what you think it is, I'm just doing the right thing, she needs it more than any of us do" Jullian responded. "I can't believe you, to think I actually trusted you once, now you're just a backstabbing liar" Miranda said as a tear trickled down her face, Jullian was also feeling really emotional, to be honest I felt super bad for him. "Miranda, you know I would hate to fight you, just let her go, if you wanna fight me you can fight me all you want, just leave her out of this, please" Jullian said, "I'm sorry Juls, I can't" Miranda said. Miranda quickly made a hand signal, nothing happened for seconds then we saw her fly away, then the next thing we were swarmed all over the place by horrific monsters. It looked like a scene out of a horror movie, "Jullian? What's happening?" I asked scared for my life, "crap, it's one of those damn spells" Jullian said, we got into our fighting stances and started to fight the creepy bastards off. I didn't realize how many they were, they seemed liked thousands, they weren't so strong or anything but they were so much that we were literally suffocating in them. They started to become too much to handle, I didn't know what to do anymore, then I heard a voice come from the opposite direction, "hey, mind if I help out?" it was Lance! "What do you want?" Jullian yelled, "I came to help" Lance replied, I saw Jullian was starting to get mad so I said "hey Romeo and Juliet, try to get along, let's kick some monster ass together", "yeah! That's the spirit babe!" Lance said, "what did you call her?!" Jullian asked frustrated. "Guys!" I yelled, they finally got serious and then the three of us started fighting off the monsters.

It was so ironic that we were the best team ever, out team work was fire! I even went to my berserk mode, we kicked those monsters ass's in no time. "Wow! That was cool, we should do this some other time" Lance said, "I don't think so" Jullian replied quickly with his arms folded. We looked the opposite direction and saw Miranda in air just staring at us, "hey Tinkerbelle! How you like us now huh?" Lance said, Miranda suddenly had a smile on her face. "Hey, what's with that smile?" Jullian asked Miranda with a raised eyebrow. Then Miranda lifted her hand to the sky, and that was when I realized, she had the crystals! "Have fun you little gremlins" Miranda said as she laughed sarcastically and flew away.
