I'm alive?

I woke up with an unusual pain in my chest, when I opened my eyes the first person I saw was Jullian. He gave me a reassuring smile, "finally awake huh? " he asked me. I was confused, I looked around the room and it was unfamiliar at first but when I studied the place more I started getting a hint of nostalgia. It was where I met the non humans that time. I sat up a little, I was still confused so I asked " What's going on?", " Um, well Mara, this might be a lot to take in but Lance is... " Jullian was trying to explain before someone barged into the room. Miranda walked into the room" MARA! YOU'RE AWAKE" she screamed as she looked my way. She ran up to me and gave me a huge hug, as she squeezed tighter I started to feel some crazy pain from my chest, so painful I pushed her away. " You idiot! She's not fully healed yet" Jullian yelled at Miranda, " I'm so sorry" Miranda begged me. I was still really confused at that point, I didn't know where all that pain was coming from or even why, so I released a few buttons from my shirt and what I saw shocked me.
     There was a hole in my chest that was filled with some kind of bright light, " um, Julian, what's going on " I asked as I stared at my chest in terror. I just couldn't seen to remember anything that happened previously, but for some reason Lance just popped into my mind, " w-where's Lance? " I stuttered. " Oh, you mean Constantine's kid? " Miranda asked while rubbing her head, " what?! " I asked in complete confusion. " Ah, you idiot, she doesn't know yet " Jullian told Miranda completely dissapointed, " Mara, I know this might be a lot for you to take in, but Lance is Constantine's kid" Jullian explained. " Lance is Constantine's kid" those words continued to echoe in my head, at first I laughed in disbelief but when I saw how serious they looked I could tell they weren't lying. " W-why? " I asked with a tear dripping from eye, " Mara, I know it's hard, but it's the truth. Lance and his dad for years now have been going around Dreamland and taking the souls of all non humans and also trying to find the crystals. Mara, trust me I would have told you long ago but I didn't know you guys had something going on until recently. I'm sorry" Jullian told me. A second tear escaped from my eye even though I tried my best to prevent it, I just couldn't understand and believe that I was tricked that easily and for so long. He was just using me all the time to get what he wanted. At that moment it occurred to me that he probably was with me all that time because he knew I had a crystal and that time he started acting weird and all leading up to our break up he was probably tired of me because he never really loved me. I started to cry more and then Jullian gave me a soft hug from behind and kissed my forehead, I admit that I blushed a little but there was still so many emotions going on at that point, it was crazy.
     After I had calmed down a bit over the Lance thing I figured it was a nice time to ask about the hole in my chest. " Well, let's just say Constantine had someone hurt you real bad in your chest and we found you and brought you here and Jullian healed you with his cool powers! " Miranda explained smiling. Immediately she said that all my memories of what had happened recently started to fly back into my head, it all made better sense now. " How long ago was that? " I asked, " probably around three days" Miranda answered. " Three days?! " I yelled, " I gotta get back to school" I thought to myself, I got off the bed and tried to run away but the pain in my chest literally sent me flying back to bed. " Mara, you can't leave yet you're not fully healed " Jullian explained, I also explained that everyone in school was probably looking for me and most especially my mom. He still told me I couldn't leave until I was healed or I would die and I obviously didn't want to die so I had to come up with something. So I decided that I would call my mom and tell her I was with one of my friends for the past three days, I knew she would be mad but it was the only way to protect the secret and all, Jullian handed me my phone and then I checked my inbox and it was filled with Mom's messages. She sent over forty messages asking if I was okay and where I was, I felt kinda guilty to be honest. So I called my mom and told her I was okay and was with a friend for the past three days, at first she was relieved then confused then furious and I actually couldn't blame her. I tried to explain that I was just being lazy and that it would never happen again but my mom didn't take it that easy, " I'm coming to your school now! " she yelled at me as she hung up on the conversation. " Guys, gotta go! " I told the both of them, " wait! You have to heal! " Jullian tried to explain but in an instant I was already out the window.
     Yeah, I figured me being a part beast had somehow given me some powers and all, I was super fast now and even stronger than before and also I could jump really long and high distances and I had these powers both in my human form and my beast form. The pain in my chest was crazy but I had to get to school fast before my mom could get there. So I got to school as fast as I could and when I got there the first place I went to was my dorm, I opened the door to find Sophie and Lauren being interrogated by my mom! " MOM?! " I yelled and she looked my way, " Marabella Richardson Brown! You gotta lot of explaining to do" my mom told with a terrifying angry face, I swallowed a bit. " First of all, what on earth are you wearing?! " mom asked and that was when I realized I was still in the robe I was wearing while Jullian healed me, it was basically like a hospital robe but weirder. " Um... " I tried to come up with something, I was silent for over minute but then mom yelled again " ANSWER ME YOUNG LADY! " I staggered from how loud she was. " Um, I, my friend and I were trying out weird costumes!" I lied and gave a fake innocent smile, "huh? " mom asked as I convinced her I was telling the truth. " Well apart from that! Why would you do something like that? Do you have any idea how worried I was? " mom asked as she started crying silently, I started feeling the emotions too, I really didn't want to put mom through all that but I just couldn't tell her what was really going on, I had a secret to protect. " Mom, I'm so sorry, I'll never do that again I swear! " I told my mom as I ran up to her and gave her a big hug, my mom squeezed tight and then the pain hit again, it was so agonizing but I couldn't do anything about it so I just stayed in the hug with a tear dripping from my eye not because of what was going on or anything, but because of the pain! After a long time I pulled away from the hug and smiled, mom and I were finally settled so after a while she left, and then Sophie and Lauren ambushed me with questions. I carefully explained everything to them, " WHOA! " they both said when I was done, I had become such a good storyteller! I got back to school work and everything seemed to be going smooth again, but the whole Lance thing still hunted me,  I couldn't sleep some nights.
     I started to have those weird nightmares again, Constantine was always in all of them and kept on threatening me to hand over the crystal or he would make my life miserable, that lady dressed in black was always there protecting me. So one really early morning probably about 2:00am, my instincts started to act up again, a voice was in my head again and this time I was very sure it was Constantine. " Come here Mara" Constantine told me, I followed the voice, passed through the window and locked it carefully behind me. Then I started to follow the voice for quite a distance until I came to a stop, " here Mara" Constantine said and when I looked around I saw Constantine alone painfully choking my mom with his right hand. He held her effortlessly in the air, my mom made grunts and coughs as she was near the point of death. I couldn't believe my eyes, I watched in complete horror as he choked her neck tighter. " Hand over the crystal or your precious mom will have to go " Constantine said, " MOM!!!! " I screamed.
