I completely freeze. My dad left a few weeks after I was born. Tiffany was a few months away from being one.I've never cared for or met him, so why does my stomach drop and throat constrict?

"N-no you aren't," I deny, even if I can see that he has the same hair as me.

"Jordan, it's me," he insists. a car door opens up somewhere and Tiffany tumbles out, followed by mum.

"Mum? Tiffany?" I mumble, walking over to them. They grumble and walk past me, towards my supposed dad.

"D-daddy?" Tiffany mumbles as she looks up. Even she recognizes him. She runs up to him and hugs him while he just stands there. She begins to weep and mum stands off to the side, staring blankly at them.

Tiffany. She got everything, she saw everyone. I was always the shadow that no one would notice. How can I be here? Mates with the vampire prince and having a dandy time with my friends. I should've stayed in the shadows. I've become demanding and bossy and outgoing. That isn't me. I'm supposed to be shy and remain unnoticed.  Tiffany should get to be outgoing, demanding, and bossy. Oh goodness, I've turned into Tiffany. A Tiffany that the world doesn't need. The world need the normal Jordan back.

"W-we should get going," I suggest to Xavier. He glances down at me and nods once he sees the look on my face. He grabs my hand in his large hand and we start walking away, leaving Jenna, Zach, and Sora to do what they please. Instead of going to the car, we start walking aimlessly. Soon enough, we end up in the woods. I smile slightly as I find a tree to climb. I speed up it and rest against the trunk. This reminds me of the scene from The Hunger Games. Xavier climbs up the tree across from the one that I'm sitting on and stares at me.

"What's wrong?" he asks, interrupting the silence that hung over us before.

"Nothing," I respond with a chrug. It's the truth after all. I'm just putting my self back in my place.

"Did seeing your dad shake you up?" he asks again. I shake my head in a 'no' motion. He didn't bother to stay to get to know me and see me grow up. He didn't nor does he deserve to.

"I just realized that we don't know each other that well, and it's almost been a month," I comment. He thinks for a moment before breaking out in a grin.

"Say, want to play a game I like to call secrets?" he asks. It can't be that bad.

"Sure," I shrug.

"I'll go first, I have to say two secrets that I haven't told you yet," he starts before continuing," I went out with a senior when I was a freshman and I secretly love romantic comedies," he admits, blushing towards the end. I grin as his ears turn a bright pink and laugh slightly.

"Let's see, I was born with brown eyes and I have had a binki till I was six," I confess as I feel heat rush up to my face. He laughs and I find a loose piece for bark and chuck it at him. He blocks it and continues to laugh.

"Hey! You two!" someone calls out. A girl. She runs towards us and looks up, glaring. She looks about nine or ten. Her red hair is cut short and the freckles sprawl across her nose and cheeks.

"Well get down from there! You'll break the branch," she shouts at us," fucking vampires thinking they can do whatever they want," she mutters, thinking that we can't hear her. I smile and slide down the tree trunk, landing on my feet.

"I'm Jordan, and you?" I ask.

"Benny, call me Benny," she answers, looking at me skeptically, as if I would jump and drink her blood at any moment. I smirk and she scowls at me.

"So, who's the fine one over there? Boyfriend?" she asks bluntly, gesturing towards Xavier.

"Hm, nothing, just a friend," I answer in a voice loud enough for him to hear. I lean down to whisper in her ear," he's my mate, he still hasn't taken me out," I whisper quiet enough for it to be under the vampire radar. She smirks and laughs slightly. Xavier climbs off of the tree and walks over to us.

"Since when was I 'just a friend'?" he asks, tickling my ear with his breath. I shake slightly before composing myself.

"Since you never asked her out," Benny spits out, giving him a disapproving look. His eyes widen slightly as the girl tells him off.

"Do you know who you're talking to?" he asks, clearing his throat and trying to fill his tone with authority.

"A douche bag that doesn't take his mate out on a date?" she sneers, raising a laugh from me. Xavier's face goes red and she snickers at his rage.

"Y-you-" he begins.

"I've been called every name in the book, nothing you call me would be new," she shrugs.

"So, how old are you?" I ask offhandedly.

"Ten," she answers, starting to walk down a winding path as I walk besides her. She continues to talk about a bunch of things. Mostly creepypasta, like Slenderman, Jeff the killer, Eyeless Jack, Laughing Jack, Lost Silver, and a ton of others.

"So, do you have any friends out here?" I ask her, Xavier trailing behind us. She shrugs before responding.

"Not many, only a few, and those are on Xbox," she snickers. I laugh along with her as we approach a white wooden house with a dark green lining windows. The windows are covered in either wood or plastic sheets.

"Well this is my house, you can meet my older sister Eliza and my parents," Benny cheers. Wait, Eliza? Benny is Eliza's little sister? Well I wasn't expecting that and I don't think Xavier was either.
