"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Don't make me get people to restrain you."
"Jenna," I whine. I glance at the pile of dresses in the corner of the room. A bright array of reds and yellows with a few black and white thrown in there. She grabs a few dresses off of the top of the pile and shoves them into my arms.
"We have to go back to school tomorrow, aren't we?" I ask as I'm shoved into the bathroom.
"Yes, so make today what it's worth!"Jenna calls through the door.
After a few hours of arguing and whining, Jenna has settled on a dark blue dress that reached down to my knees and gold heels.
"You know how odd it would be to end up going to McDonalds?" I ask as I adjust the neckline of the dress. It's way too low. Jenna scowls and pulls the neckline back down.
"You aren't going to McDonalds, and don't be surprised if you come back to Zach's dead body," Jenna mumbles before shoving me out of the door and pushing a clutch into my hands. One thing everyone should know, we probably will find Zach close to death, but not dead.
"Xavier says there's a limo outside and that he'll meet you there," Queen Anna hums while she glides past me and down the hall.
"Thanks!" I call after her as I skip down the stairs and outside with the heels in my hand. Hah, like I would be able to go down the stairs with heels on my feet. I spot the large dark limo and open the backdoor for myself, climbing in and closing the door behind me. The person driving takes off and I slip on the evil shoes. After half an hour of driving, we arrive at a large restaurant and the door is opened for me. I smile at the elderly driver and he grins back. I slowly walk inside and approach the guy that asks about reservations and all of that.
"Hi, I'm here with Xavier Kingston," I trail off in a high-pitched tone. This happens when I talk to people I don't know. He looks up and examines my attire before scanning through the list.
"The Prince is already with someone, and he has only booked a table for two, you must be mistaken," the man waves off.
"E-excuse me?" I stutter. I'm confused, very confused.
"You heard me, now get on," he grumbles before asking for the next in line. I shuffle to the side and blink a few times before looking around and slipping off my heels. That's when I make a run for it. I dash through the place before spotting the silhouette of Xaiver. He isn't alone, not nearly alone. My throat begins to close and I step back a bit before turning around and running face first into security. The tall African American male looks down at me and I sniffle accidentally. He sighs and gestures towards the front.
"Let's go little miss," he mumbles as I make my way out of the restaurant and he trails behind me.
"U-um, excuse me, but do you know anywhere that I can go?" I ask the security guard.
"There's a place a few blocks down, Little Charlie's, I'll haul you a cab," he answers kindly. I whisper a thank you back and a dim yellow cab pulls up. The security guard opens the door for me and closes it behind me, asking the driver to take me to Little Charlie's. The ride was short and the radio was playing softly. We pull up in front of the neon sign that has beginning to dim. I climb out of the vehicle and the driver lowers the window so I could pay him.
"Bad day, miss?" he asks as he tells me the price that I read off of the meter.
"Very, sir," I reply, handing him the cash.
"I hope the bastard who did this to you suffers, he's missing out on the prettiest lass out there," the driver says, giving me my change and smiling as I wave him goodbye.
I open the small diner door and a small bell dings, turning the heads of the few people there. I smile nervously and head to a corner booth, leaning against the window. I look over the little menu that is placed on every table.
"Hello little lady, what can I get for ya?" a middle-aged waitress wearing a light pink and white uniform.
"What do you recommend?" I ask, giving her a smile that she returns cheerfully.
"You need some comfort food. Mac n' Cheese with mash potatoes it is, what would you like to drink?" she scribbles down.
"Do you have Icees?"I ask politely.
"We have lemon ice bombs and lime ice bombs, so basically the same thing," she shrugs.
"Lime ice bomb, please," I request.
"Anything else?" she hums, tucking her little notepad into her pocket.
"No thank you miss," I mumble, she didn't have a name tag on, what was I suppose to call her?
She skips away and I stare down at my lap, slipping off the heels I pulled on before leaving the restaurant. The light hum of the jukebox playing "Don't Stop Believin'".The bell rings out once again, signalling someone entered or left. I continue to look down as footsteps become louder and louder, disturbing the light hum of the song before they suddenly come to a stop, allowing the music to return to it's steady beat.
"Excuse me," a male voice sounds, right next to me. I glance up.
"Yes?" I ask. Do I know this guy? He doesn't seem familiar. I would remember someone with brown eyes and brown hair such as him. I'm being completely serious.
"You're in my seat," he blatantly replies.
"Well I'm not moving," I scoff. I did get here first.
"Fine," he grunts before taking the seat in front of me.
"What are you doing?" I ask. Is he a rapist? A serial killer? A psychopath?
"Eating," he replies. The waitress skips over and leans over to give the guy a hug.
"How have you been, Daphne?" he asks, smiling and revealing his dimples.
"Great, so, Cameron, it's a dinner for two?" she asks, looking between me and this Cameron guy.
"It's a dinner for two," he confirms, challenging me with his abnormally light brown eyes. Challenge accepted.
