The Vampire's Mate

Chapter 3

"No, no, no, no, no," I start mumbling, playing with my hair. I don't want to rely on blood to stay alive! That doesn't sound like it would taste too good. Wait, can I still eat human food and be able to enjoy it? Will I have to give up Oreos? I refuse to give up my baby! I sit in a chair and Xander sits next to me.

"Jordan!" mum shouts, bringing me out of my trance. I snap my head over to her.

"Yes, mum?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. She isn't usually nice to me.

"Tell Queen Anna and King Jackson how we should stay here, with you," mum states. She has a gleam in her eyes, thinking that I would lie. Nah, I'll tell the truth.

"But, mum, I wouldn't want that. You two shouldn't be staying here," I smile innocently. Tiffany glares at me with hatred and I smile back, stuffing the ravioli that the butler just served. I'm going to have to get use to Anna, Jackson, and Xander drinking blood instead of water. Thank god vampires can eat human food since Anna and Xander are eating the ravioli. 

"Then it's decided, your mom and sister won't be staying with us," Anna smiles at me. I smile back and continue to eat as I ignore the glares that I get. 

"I refuse to give Jordan to you if I may not stay with her," mum says, smirking.

"You can't do that!" Xander booms, standing again. What is up with everyone getting mad so easily?

"She can, Xavier," Anna spoke. Xavier?

"Xavier is my first name, Xander is my middle name," Xan- Xavier explained. That makes sense.

"Oh," is my incredibly wise remark.

"You will not be taking my mate away from me," Xavier growls, looking back at my mum with a hard, cold glare.

"She can," Anna sighs, running a hand through her blonde hair.

"Fine! Then they can stay here, on the other side of the palace," Xavier mutters, dropping back in his seat. 

"Great, we just need to get our stuff and can move in later tonight," mum cheers, sharing an evil look with Tiffany. What are they up to?

"Ok, I'm going to bed, night Anna and Jackson," I smile, walking away from the dining table.

Before Xavier could react, I dash down random halls and end up in a small, unoccupied bedroom. I examine the light green walls and dark green comforter. I can stay here for the night. I run into the room across the hall from this room and find a room full of girls’ clothing. Xavier does have a sister. I grab shorts and a loose shirt and run back into the green room. I change quickly and jump into the fluffy bed. I suddenly here the window open and a person jumps through. My eyes widen as the intruder walks up to me. Before I could scream, a hand is around my mouth. I bite down until I taste blood. The person pulls their hand away and swears under their breath. I jump up and run out of the room. This would normally be the part where the intruder catches the girl and takes her away when she slows down. I've read too many books to be stupid enough to slow down. Like the intruder would give you a warning when he's close to you. I run down multiple halls and eventually end up in an unfamiliar dead end. Oops? I hear someone running not too far away and instantly back into a corner. Why the hell does a palace have dead ends? The footsteps come closer and I frantically look around for any weapon at all. I spot a flashlight. Who the heck leaves a flashlight in random places? A sword would be a lot more convenient and useful. I grab the flashlight and aim it towards the end of the hall. The steps get closer and are soon just around the corner. Once I see the person, I fling the flashlight at his head and tackle him. I pick up the flashlight and hold it against the person's neck. I flip the switch on the flashlight and see… Xavier?

"What the hell!?" he exclaims, rubbing his forehead.

"Oops?" I smile innocently. 

"Did you just attack me with a flashlight?" he asks with bewilderment clear on his face. 

"Hehe, funny story," I trail off. What am I supposed to say? Someone tried to kidnap me? I don't want to be under surveillance 24/7.

"What's the funny part?" Xavier grumbles, still rubbing his forehead.

"SomeonetriedtokidnappmeandIranandsortofgotlostandthoughtthatyouwerehimadnthrewtheflashlighttoprotectmyself," I rush. He looks at me in confusion.

"Ok, now try saying it slowly," he says slowly.  I huff and stand up. I help him up and we walk down the hall.

"I, uh, went into a random room and was about to go to sleep when someone came in the window and covered my mouth. I bit him and started to run and ran into the dead end and could only find a flashlight so I thought that you were the intruder and threw it at your head and yeah," I breath. He looks at me and his eyes suddenly turn black.

"Someone tried kidnapping you?" he growled.

"That's all that you got out of what I said? You should keep swords at dead ends, not flashlights is the main point here," I huff. Ok, maybe flashlights are useful too, considering the fact that I took down a 6'2" man. Oh! Maybe we should use frying pans like in Tangled! That would be fun since I would just go and whack people with them. Or, we can put both in every dead end and attack with two weapons!

"Someone tried to kidnap you! It isn't safe for you to be alone, even in the palace!" Xavier sighs in frustration.

"I can handle myself! I did take you down!" I say, flipping my flashlight. I should keep this with me at all times. It serves multiple purposes. You can blind the enemy and then attack or attack and then blind. You can also give them a major headache.

"Jordan," Xavier says in a low tone.

"What?" I ask as we head down to the dining room.

"What are you wearing?" Xavier asks, holding my arm to stop me from walking.

"I believe I'm wearing what people call clothing," I explain. Xavier's face suddenly brightens.

"I believe that that's my shirt," Xavier smirks. I look at his sister's shirt. Oh, it is his shirt.

"Are you bipolar?" I ask. He was mad one minute and smirking the next, it's always a possibility.

"What? No," Xavier scoffs.

"Are you sure?" I reassure.

"Yes," Xavier chuckles.

"You!" I hear before something hits my head and the world goes black.
