Single Rose

Roses are picked in bundles,

Given in bundles, too.

Though I chose only one rose,

And the rose I chose, was you.

Roses are pulled, cut, and moved

For pretend preparation,

But I will not uproot you;

I wish no separation.

So—stay! Stay with me my rose,

Until my last gasp goes,

And I will care for you, forever:

My one and only rose.
