"Taehyung, King Dongwook wants you in throne room this instant. The kingdom's watch has news," one of the maids said, poking her head in his room. She knew better than to call him "queen" or "king" because he told all the maids not to. He felt uncomfortable being called either but Dongwook always made visitors refer to him as "queen". Dongwook never respected him, even going as far as to disregard his gender.
Taehyung looked up at her and nodded, "can you fetch me some clothes?"
He wasn't allowed to have his own wardrobe. Because he wasn't allowed to leave the palace, Dongwook decided that he didn't need to have his own wardrobe. Usually, while he bathed, one of the maids would fetch him more clothes and wash the ones he already wore.
It didn't take long being trapped inside the palace to get old. He hated looking at the brick walls that made up his tiny room. He hated staring up at the ceiling every night with tears in his eyes or wishes in his mind. It got old thought Dongwook did some times mix things up and venture down to Taehyung's room. But that was only when he was horny or needed to take the stress off his shoulders. Taehyung stopped crying during that though because it would only hurt him more psychically and emotionally; if he just gave in and allowed whatever Dongwook wanted to do to him then he wouldn't get hit. It was simple.
The maid nodded and rushed out of his room. She returned seconds later holding a white shirt that tied in the front and a pair of comfortable jeans. At least Dongwook didn't make him wear a dress.
The brunette quickly got dressed before following the maid towards the throne room. He's only been in the throne room enough times to count on one hand. It was a gorgeous and grand room which a huge chandelier hanging in the middle of the domed ceiling. The floor was a polished copper which Taehyung could see his poor reflection through with cream coloured walls. There was a large staircase on the right-hand corner that leads to the third floor where important people like guards stayed and a huge floor-to-ceiling window which made up the whole wall and showed the courtyard with a glass door in the middle of it. There were three entrances, one from the courtyard where most guests that are invited to parties mingled, one from the staircase and one from where Taehyung entered. Opposite of the glass wall was the thrones. The tallest one with gorgeous gems decorating the top belonged to the king and the shorter one with diamonds embedded in the golden, intricate designs belonged to the queen.
Of course, Taehyung has never sat in the throne.
Dongwook stood in front of his throne while talking to a member of the kingdom's watch. The kingdom's watch is something like the police. The chief was a tall, bulky man with an ugly square face and beady eyes.
"About time," Dongwook said once he laid eyes on his husband. Taehyung didn't look at him but instead kept his eyes trained the on the ground, staring at his reflection. He walks towards Dongwook and stood beside him before looking up at the chief.
"Good evening, Queen," the chief said, bowing. The young man smiled and bowed his head and replied with a soft, "good evening, chief."
"I've come to deliver devastating news," the chief said, "Dongwook's mother called the paramedics after finding her husband unresponsive in his bed. He's announced dead since last night and your mother is holding a funeral for him in three days."
Dongwook released a sigh and he looked down, "mother must be devastated, how is she?"
"I haven't heard from her but I plan to visit her as soon I leave here. Your father died from natural causes. She invited the royal families from our two neighbouring kingdoms."
Taehyung toned out everything else the chief had to say. He couldn't help but feel happy for the former king's death. Because of him, Taehyung had a chance to meet his son because the former queen was probably bringing the five year old with her to the funeral. All Taehyung wanted to do was see him, he wasn't asking much but the first time he ever brought up the topic of seeing his son earned him a slap from his husband. Dongwook had told him that his son wouldn't be around someone of such a low rank in society and that being raised by royalty and royalty only was the only option. Taehyung's son would have nothing to do with him because Taehyung came from a poor family.
It saddened the young male to know that his son didn't know he existed. They were probably filling his head with lies about him. It worried him that maybe his son would reject him as his parent if they officially meet each other. Hell, he didn't even know the boy's name.
After a while of standing and talking, the chief finally took his leave. Dongwook didn't show much despair for his father's death but later that night he did end up showing up in Taehyung's room, demanding the younger male take his mind off the untimely event.
Taehyung awoke from a dream in the middle of the night only to feel Dongwook's breath on the back of his neck. Sometimes Dongwook slept with him only because he wanted a repeat of what happened during the night in the morning. His arms were wrapped tightly around Taehyung's tiny waist causing the young male to shift, uncomfortable that his nude backside was pressed against his manhood.
"Quit moving," Dongwook snapped, slapping his thigh and causing the younger male to flinch and freeze. Taehyung balled his hands up to his chest and shut his eyes tight as he felt his husband place a kiss to the junction between his neck and shoulders, leaving a dark mark. His hand slid down the curve of his hip and towards his thigh before slipping to his inner thigh and causing Taehyung's breath to hitch.
"In the morning," he whispered quickly, moving Dongwook's hands away. Dongwook hummed and placed his hand back on his waist causing Taehyung to close his eyes in relief.
To get his mind off his current situation, Taehyung allowed his mind to wander. The thought of meeting his son came to mind and he smiled slightly in hopes that the five year old would accept him. Dongwook couldn't stop him from meeting his son at the funeral because he needed to leave a good impression on the other royal families invited. So Taehyung had just a little bit of freedom but he knew that if he pushed the older male's buttons too much that he'd regret it once they returned to the palace.
