After the funeral, Taehyung hadn't heard from Jungkook nor his son. It made him even sadder because his son was happy to see him and had wanted to continue doing so but now he's stuck in his prison cell of a room with nothing but his thoughts and the occasional maid to keep him company. Every day he hoped to hear from one of the maids that they were going to the inauguration but he was met with disappointment.

What made him scared and sad was the thought that maybe Jungkook's inauguration already happened and his husband attended without him. Dongwook had to attend in order to sign the treaty and talk about peace but Taehyung didn't have to go. His status was unimportant, he didn't have to sign a peace treaty. He was just an accessory, something to make King Dongwook look good. He was unneeded.

The chances of being saved have dropped to where they used to be before the funeral.

A tear escaped its hold in Taehyung's eye. He had filled himself with so much hope that the disappointment that followed afterwards was overwhelming. He never had a chance to hope for his safety son when the opportunity came, he jumped on it and held on for dear life. Now he was back to where he started but in more mental pain than before.

To describe the feeling of being overwhelmed with disappointment, for Taehyung, it was as if the sadness and depression had spread to the rest of his body and his stomach and heart were dropping due to the weight of it all. He didn't want to move so he just lied in his bed or sat with his back against the wall.

After a month, the disappointment faded away and Taehyung was left with his two companions: depression and sadness. He was okay with that, he didn't feel as overwhelmed anymore. He was back to himself.

"Tae!" A maid exclaimed from behind his door, not bothering to knock as she tumbled into the small room.

Taehyung looked at her with a frown, "are you okay?"

"King Dongwook told me to come down here and get you ready. You're attending an inauguration."

Taehyung's whole body instantly poisoned itself with hope again. He swore to never allow himself to become so hopeful but his body must have had other ideas. He allowed the maid to pull him up and take him to another room to dress him.

She redyed his hair brown since his black boots were showing through. She applied makeup on him to cover up some bruises left by his loving husband. She managed to lift Taehyung's mood with her happy humming and how hyper she was. She was one of the younger maids so she was always somehow happy.

"Maybe you'll meet someone there that is willing to help you," she whispered, placing her hands on both of his shoulders.

Taehyung smiled at her and followed her towards the throne room where Dongwook and his mother were standing. Taehyung mentally rolled his eyes at the thought of the former queen attending but he quickly got over his annoyance when he realized that she could keep Dongwook distracted along with the other members of the royal family. Hanseok ran towards him with a big grin and wrapped his arms around Taehyung's legs. Taehyung smiled down at him and ran his fingers through his hair.

The former queen grabbed Hanseok by the arms and made him stand beside her as she continued to talk about how the signing of the treaty should go. Taehyung frowned at her actions but made no move to grab his son back. She told Dongwook what questions to ask and make sure he leaves as an ally rather than an enemy.

"And you," she pointed at Taehyung, "keep your mouth shut."

The brunette nodded but the words went through one ear and out the other. He really didn't want to be the reason why the war continued but he was tired of staying in the hell hole he was supposed to call home. He was tired of being used as a sex toy and punching bag. He was tired of being quiet about it as well. He didn't want to be like Dongwook's mother and suffer through abuse for years and years. Taehyung was ready to do something for himself and if that meant resuming the paused war, then so be it.
