Josh
As if being pulled, I flew up Leliel's beam of light. Strangely, she wasn't here but that didn't bother me. However, where I would end up did.
As I ascended, I looked back at what had just happened. What was I thinking, charging a Throne with my bare hands? Then again, I had somewhat won but with the help of Harry.
Then of course meeting a Seraphim, the highest angel there can be and God had sent half a dozen for me. Is that a good sign?
It didn't matter because where I was heading would answer any and all questions.
The ascending ended and I took it as a sign to step out of the beam. The first thing I noticed was blue skies, not the normal white I've grown accustomed to. Though it was a brighter than the blue skies I witnessed on Earth.
The second thing I noticed was the wood cabin that seemed to stand in the middle of nowhere. It looked rustic, old, as if it had been here since the beginning of time. The worst part was it wasn't even out of place. It was as if it was meant to be here, in this moment inviting me closer. Closer I moved.
The porch creaked under my weight as I slowly lifted my arm to knock. After the third knock, I heard someone calling for me to come in so I let myself in.
The interior was the complete opposite of the exterior. Where the exterior appeared old, the interior was definitely new with strange devices scattered throughout the living room. Worse, the seating arrangement was to perfection leaving the room feeling homey.
"You like it? I figured I had to keep up with the times?" A voice said behind me. I whirled around to see somebody completely...ordinary.
Everything was completely ordinary about the man in front of me, right down to the freckles below his left eye.
"God?" I asked, afraid of his answer.
He chuckled. "No, I'm afraid not. Some call me Yeshua or Iesus but I prefer Jesus."
I stared at this man, Jesus apparently. "I was told that God had summoned me. Who are you? You're not a angel that's for sure."
Jesus turned and made his way back to the kitchen while shouting over his shoulder. "Oh yeah, I forgot about your ability to identify angels on sight. Would you like coffee or Coke perhaps? Pepsi?"
"Um, what is Pepsi, Coke or coffee? Listen enough of this!" I shouted, following him. "I just want to know what's going on!"
He turned around, his brunette hair flopping over his eyes. "Right, sorry. I'm a bit everywhere today. Sit, please."
Feeling lost and confused (seems like a trend in Heaven), I flunked down on one of the sofas waiting for Jesus to come. He soon followed with two steaming mugs.
"Here." He offered one mug to me which I took, not knowing what else to do. "It must be hard, going to Earth without your previous life's memory."
I didn't respond, staring at the brown liquid in my mug.
"Are you afraid, Joshua?" He asked, sadness veiled with a thin layer of kindness.
"I guess I am." I found myself admitting, still staring at my mug.
"Not at the thing inside you though." It wasn't a question, he was certain. I wasn't scared of Harry nor Draco.
Somehow, that put me off. It wasn't the fact that this guy knew things about me, it was that smile.
"Who are you, Jesus? Your not an angel so what are you?" I questioned, finally meeting his brown eyes. He didn't seem disturbed by my questions but the way he tilted his head made it seem as if this was out of the norm for him.
"I was born a long time ago, not before the existence of Heaven but before most of civilization." He took a moment to sip his coffee. "I was basically born to spread the teachings of God and I'm his son. Well, technically I'm Mary's son but that's another story. I went across the country, taught God's words and died for him. Now I wait for the battle."
"The battle? You mean the end? When the angels fight the demons and God fights Lucifer?" I sat forward, his story sounding like everything else I've heard, familiar.
He nodded. "Well, it's worded differently around here but basically yeah."
"So why am I here? I was told that God wanted to see me." I pressed further.
"Ah, that's me. I wanted to meet you first so I hijacked his meeting with you. Sorry." He grinned sheepishly making my temper flare.
"But why am I here?" I shouted, not caring if this man was the son of God.
"I'm making you a angel." He admitted, a massive smile on his face now. "Well a Dominion to be specific."
