TOM JONES

I was seething by the time I got home. I opened the door only to have it jammed loudly on the wall. She was sitting on the cushion as if she owns the place. The woman who called herself my mom that I had never met. She wore a tight-fitting gown probably thinking she could seduce her way in.

She was exactly as she looked in the pictures that showed me just that she now had some freckles on her face.

"Get out," I said angrily and pointed at the door.

"Son..." I cut her off

"I am not your fucking son you lost the right to call me that when you left," I said angrily as I picked her bag and threw it out.

"Son" I looked up at the voice of my dad. He looked sad and I clenched my fingers in a fist.

"Dad," I said as she nodded and pointed at the seat beside him.

"Why are you here, Eveline?" My dad asked her.

"It's Eva," The bitch said and batted her lashes.

"You lose the right to that nickname when you see us as something you can't live with," My dad said.

"I came here to say sorry," she said looking down at her feet.

"Like I care" I grumbled at her. My dad sighed and nodded.

"Okay, we have heard you so please leave," My dad said as he balled his hand in a fist. I put my hand on him in a reassuring way. Dad looked at me and smiled. He looked tired.

"Jon...I want to get to know my son. I had missed his first crawl, his first word, his first birthday. I want to get to know him" Eveline cried as she tried to move closer to me. Stopping her midway, I stood up and dragged her out of the house. I locked the door and she started hitting hard on the door.

I ignored her and moved to the sitting room to see dad crying. Knowing how hard this was for him, I hugged him. He hugged me tight as he cried like a baby.

I couldn't stop my own tears as we hugged each other trying to fill up the deep wound her sudden presence had opened.

"Have you had dinner?" I stood as I look at dad who nodded no. I went into the kitchen and prepared pasta.

A few minutes later

"Tom, I know you will want to meet your mother or better still get to know her. I don't have anything against you if you decide to" my dad said. We were having dinner a few minutes after I made the food in dad's room.

"Dad, I may yearn for a mother or want to know what it feels to have one but you are more than enough for me. I don't care about that woman" I said, dad, smiled at me and nodded.

"I'm just letting you know I won't hate you if you want to," he said. After that, we ate in silence. That night I didn't sleep in my room. I slept with him on his bed because I know he needed it. He needed to know I will always be his son and be with him.
