There was so much going in town.

In between powers people were developing, to Caine becoming Mayor or something and Drake and Orc's crew beating people senseless- too much was going on.

Things should've have been this bad, this hard.

So far Hunter wasn't in danger, being with Zil and Harry helped. There definitely was safety in numbers.

He'd been in town only a day. This was the second day, and Hunter was planning on sneaking off and going home.

One thing he knew for sure, he couldn't be seen. Caine and Drake, they were too suspicious. They would question him, and then they'd make him take them to the actual house.

He wasn't exactly one of those kids you had to keep an eye on, but Caine had seen him around the FAYS with Zil and his gang- and Hunter was sure he'd seen Caine before at Coates.

Maybe Caine had seen Hunter.

Either way things could get violent with the way Caine was becoming a dictator over the town, and it could be accidently taken home and that couldn't happen.

Display of powers weren't allowed, at all. People had been beaten for it.

But it was rumored that a couple different people had powers- the biggest names being Sam and Caine.

Hunter wondered sometimes if he had, or was developing powers. But he didn't step out, and wouldn't have revealed anything that could've happened.

He had to lay low, and just survive day by day- doing nothing more than eating, sleeping and sometimes hanging out with other boys his age.

It was a nice change for only hanging out with girls- his only friends really being his sisters.

And Deon wasn't exactly the type of younger brother he could hang out with quite yet.

Maybe Deon has powers.. Hunter thought, inspecting his hands for the tenth time that day alone.

What could his power be? Could he shoot fire out of his hands? Maybe he could freeze people into ice with them? Or maybe his power had nothing to do with his hands, like super speed or teleportation?

"Or maybe I'm just another average human kid.." Hunter muttered to himself, sighing before he opened his door and strode out of the room.

Glancing around Zil's empty house, he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. Thinking for a moment, he remembered Zil and Harry leaving an hour earlier when Hunter was watching a movie- saying they were going out. Something about getting dinner...

Out where? Hunter thought, closing his eyes as he tried to remember. He'd hoped he'd be able to talk to them, feed them his excuse before he went back to his home.

But if he couldn't, Hunter didn't think it was that important.

"I'll just go. Right now." Hunter said aloud, smirking to himself as he went out the front door- his mood only getting better as he started down the street.

Zil lived on the corner of Pacific Boulevard and Sheridan Avenue, so Hunter decided to go up past the firehouse, and then keep going North out to the ridges.

From there he knew how to get home like the back of his hand.

Once he reached Sheridan Avenue, Hunter kept to the sides of the streets- watching carefully for anyone that was around.

He shouldn't have had to be this cautious over just going home.

There was a crashing sound from up ahead, and Hunter snapped backward against the wall- holding his breath with his eyes darting back and forth as he waited a moment.
