Ivy hadn't used her power since the rabbit.
It still scared her, and she wore her gloves constantly.
Just today she still frowned at how Alice had run into the room- about to fling herself on Ivy's lap like always.
Ivy hadn't had her gloves on that moment- since it was pretty hot out.
She'd sidestepped Alice, and she'd crashed past her into the side of the couch.
Alice got a bruise on her forehead, and hadn't spoken to Ivy since. She barely even looked at her, and when she did her eyes were full of betrayal.
It frustrated Ivy, how her sisters thought she was just being mean- when really everything she did was trying to protect them from herself.
And why don't I just tell them? Ivy thought, instantly knowing the answer.
It would just make things worse. She'd be mean, and a monster.
And seeing that Hunter was still in town, and she was stuck in the house with the house with the kids- she didn't get enough chances to study her powers.
Two guinea pigs and a rabbit. She refused to touch anything more, especially after the good feeling she got after killing them.
It haunted her.
Being sadistic, it was called.
Another disease she was sure she had but didn't have any doctors or psychiatrists to help her with.
Sighing, Ivy glanced into her fridge warily. It was nearly empty, and Ivy knew she'd have to restock sooner than later.
There were canned goods and non-perishable foods in the gun shed and in the basement- but maybe they still had some good food left in town.
Either way, Ivy decided to check on the food in the basement- just in case.
Very carefully she treaded down the stairs, smiling once she reached the bottom and realized that it barely hurt.
She was almost fully healed.
Moving swiftly, feeling much more confident, Ivy moved past the laundry room and opened the door to her mother's lab- which never really closed now, due to her beating it down on the first day.
Closing the door the best she could, Ivy silently took in the room.
She hadn't been down there since her last private tour, and even though she'd seen it before- just a day or so before- it seemed unusual and strange.
Like this was one of the first times she'd ever been in that lab. This lab that seemed to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Carefully moving forward, Ivy took in the two islands- each with many chemicals, needles, beakers and other things littering the surfaces.
She'd taken a side long glance at the cabinets, the same one's she'd already rifled through. Just then she noticed that one of the cabinets was open, looking as if some papers had fallen over and pushed it open before they landed in a messy pile on the floor.
She made a mental note to clean that up later- and moved over to a second door.
The second door that'd terrified her for no reason she could identify her entire life.
She found herself slowly drifting towards the door, in a fearful daze as she got closer, step by step until she was directly in front of the door.
Ivy tried the doorknob, feeling surprised when it opened- unlocked.
