Jeffrey pov
After discussing adopting the child with Addison I could tell she seemed to be in a happier mood, I mean what more could she want? She cannot keep her hands off of Clementine and that makes me very happy to see.
Clem looks a lot like her actually, her big doe eyes are intoxicating just like her mothers.
I spoke with the doctor about the potential adoption of the baby girl in the nursery, he told me that he would contact the social worker immediately and in the meantime she would bring the baby in with us, just to see how Addison will react with both her and Clementine.
"I'm gonna have my hands full.." Addy says smiling a little bit "I mean I'm not complaining I'm actually pretty excited!"
I smiled back to her "I know right? Another baby? This is gonna be.. an adventure"
Before anything else could be said there was a knock on the door and there stood Dr and the baby girl.
"Hello she just woke up so she may be a little cranky" He warns handing her off to me.
I hold her in my arms and look down at her, and before I knew it she starts screaming bloody murder.
I didn't take offense to it, I can only imagine how startled she must be considering the last thing she probably remembers is being laid down outside of a McDonald's.
Addison furrows her eyebrows to me and offers help, but I kindly reject it as I want this baby to like me.
"Shh" I say trying to soothe her, I kissed her forehead trying anything just to get her to calm down, but to no avail she didn't stop crying.
The doctor handed me a bottle in which maybe she was hungry.
I take the bottle from him and hold it up to her mouth, at first she didn't want anything to do with it, but after some of the milk accidentally got on her lips she began to take to the bottle.
I sigh out in relief feeling like I just cracked the code. Addy holds up her hand in which we high five.
"So what made you two think of adoption?"
I look over to addy and she cleared her throat
"My husband is a firm believer of signs and.. well believes that what happened here today was meant to. And that we were destined to be that little girls parents"
I nodded in agreement considering she took my exact words from my mouth.
The doctor widens his eyes almost in an impressed state.
"That's wonderful to hear.. but we are going to have to run a background test, we cannot just give her away-"
"That's fine. I will wait here as long as it takes. " I say sitting down with the girl in my arms.
The doctor nods and with that he walks away, making sure to shut the door softly to not wake up the sleeping babies in the room.
"So are you sure about this?" Addy whispers "We can't just take her on and not be sur-"
"I am sure."
We make eye contact and I assume she picked up on the fact that there was no debating this subject, my mind is pretty set on taking this baby home, she does not deserve to sit around and become just another kid in the system.
After some time, we were brought the adoption papers, we decided we would name our other baby girl Violet Rae Morgan, well actually that's what Addison picked out, I thought it was only fair she got to name her. Considering I named Clementine. Not that I'm hating on the name, in fact I think its quite beautiful. Not as simple as id like it to be, but who am I to tell Addy she cant name her that?
Several hours passed by, and after several tests on Addison, And the girls, we were finally allowed to leave the hospital. I couldn't be more excited to do so. But I could tell it was finally hitting Addy that we are now fully responsible for two newborns, I don't think she was fully prepared for this adjustment. From being checked up on all the time, to absolutely no help.
The nurses allowed Addy to hold both of the girls in her arms as we wheeled her out of the hospital.
We made it to our car and I opened the back two doors, fiddling with the car seats trying to make sure that they are secure, the nurse helps Addison stand up, whilst taking Violet out of her arms. As soon as she did so, Violet starts crying, causing Addison to panic.
"This is completely normal" the nurse says to calm Addy's nerves a bit. "She probably just got used to being warm in your arms, but no worries, once we get her in the car seat she will fall asleep again"
"is that all they are going to do?" Addy questions
"pretty much yeah.. Sleep, poop, eat"
Addy nods her head and hands over Clementine to me, I carefully take her into my arms and set her down into the car seat.
She didn't make any noise at all, her big eyes just starred up at me. I couldn't help but grin.
After both babies were buckled up, the nurse decided to hand us a little care package of things that may come in handy, she told us she's really not supposed to do that, but since we were first time parents she felt that it was necessary to do so.
Wasn't really sure if that was a compliment or not, but either way I appreciated the help.
I start the car and turn the radio all the way down, not wanting to disturb the babies who are trying to fall asleep.
The drive home I drove extra careful. Addy didn't seem too thrilled that I was doing 10 under the speed limit, but hell I didn't care. I was just being cautious.
Addy and I haven't really discussed our little falling out, sure we kind of made up, but I still feel this tension with her. I don't really want to address that today, but at some point I'm going to have to.
