"I'm moving out."
The color drained from my parent's faces.
"You're what?" my father asked,
Tears formed in my eyes. I hated disappointing my parents.
"Where are you going?" my mother asked, starting to cry. "You don't have any money! What about Waylon? You two were supposed to get married!"
"If you leave, you're cut off." my father growled.
I looked back to my room and walked up stairs. My mother cried harder as I walked away. I had to cut myself loose. I slipped into my room and shut the door behind me. I burst into tears. What was I thinking? Was it really worth it? Leaving my family and this life I had for a new life? What if he broke my heart like everyone thinks he is going to?
"Have you seen the news? -Nat 10:12am"
"No? Why? -Mel 10:13am"
"Look on this Kendall chicks Twitter. -Nat 10:13am"
I opened the Twitter app on my phone and searched for Kendall. There were thousands of tweets about how Shawn was a dirty cheater and about how Kendall didn't deserve this. What exactly didn't she deserve? There were so many articles about how the wedding was off and how Kendall took to Twitter to tell her 'fans'.
"She's lying about the cheating part. -Mel 10:18am"
"So the wedding is really off??? -Nat 10:19am"
"I guess so... -Mel 10:19am"
"You have your chance now! -Nat 10:20am"
It wasn't that I had a chance now, I had caused the break up and I honestly felt kinda bad about it. Canceling a wedding is a big deal, even if it was just for the press.
"Mel? -Nat 10:27am"
"This is my fault. -Mel 10:28am"
"What do you mean 'your fault'? -Nat 10:29am"
A quiet screame rang from the floor below me.
"Something is going on downstairs. Call me later. -Mel 10:31am"
I threw my phone on my bed and put my ear against the door.
"Someone help!" my mother screamed.
Footsteps and large men's voices filled the house. Shit, I gotta get out of here. As quickly as I could, I stripped down and changed into my everyday . I opened my door and ran to Zoe's room.
"Zoe I need you!" I said, knocking on the door.
She quickly opened the door and followed me back to my room. She grabbed down my luggage set and started packing my clothes. I grabbed a bag myself and started packing my items from the bathroom. Once everything was cleared out, I moved to my desk. I turned on my computer and erased everything that I could.
"Zoe!" I called, sitting at my desk. "You can have my computer."
"Really Mel?" she asked, smiling ear from ear.
I shook my head yes and moved on to the other random trinkets I wanted from my room. I of course took the pictures of Zoe, Nat and I.
"Everything is packed." Zoe said, rolling out two large suitcases.
"Thank you so much!" I said, hugging her tightly.
Tears formed in her eyes as she let me go.
"I'm not going to cry!" she said, wiping her eyes.
She grabbed my bags and wheeled them out of my room to the back staircase. I looked around my room one last time. This was it, I was actually doing this. With my laptop and duffle bag in hand, I shut my door for one last time.
Zoe loaded up the for me and gave me one last hug.
"You better call me and let me know you're alive every so often!" she joked while kissing my cheek.
"As soon as I have my own place, I want you to come visit me!" I smiled.
Zoe pushed me into the car and shut the door. She opened the garage door for me and smiled. I unhooked my house keys and tossed them to her. I was sure I wasn't coming back so I didn't need those.
"Your story begins now!" Zoe yelled, waving as I pulled out of the driveway.
I wiped my tears away and drove away, occasionally looking in the rearview mirror. The gates to the house stayed open, which was quite puzzling. Suddenly, an ambulance raced into the driveway.
"Oh my god." I said, covering my mouth.
Melody, no! You need to keep going. Everything is going to be fine.
Shawn's POV
My eye's shot open as cold water was poured over my body.
"What the fuck?" I yelled, jumping out of bed.
I rubbed my eyes to adjust to the well lit room.
"Look who decided to wake up today!" Zac joked, crossing his arms.
Nick, Andrew and Noah stood behind him, trying to hold back their laughter.
"Shit Zac, what was that for?" I asked through my clenched teeth. I shook my hair and slicked it back.
I was livid as could be. Rule number one was don't wake me up, ever. I valued my sleep, taking that away was letting me know that you wanted to be punched in the face.
"We have work to do." he said, throwing the water bottle at me
I snapped and lunged across the bed at him. I grabbed his shirt collar but before I could do anything, Nick pulled me off of him.
"Don't fucking tell me what to do. I will fuck you up." I sneered at Zac.
"Well if you wouldn't be chasing after some girl all night then maybe you would be focused on the company!" Zac yelled back.
My father had passed down Mendes & Co. Investment Firm. We made millions in the stock market. The company started in a small garage and grew to 3 locations. My father took the company national and then handed the keys over to me to follow his dream of working in politics.
I was the CEO at 19 and by the time I was 21, I had been on the cover of every magazine, "Billionaire by 21" they read. I became the youngest person ever to make that much money in one year. Experts say that my grandchildren would be born trillionaires. That's how much money I was making.
We made so much money that we were running out of ideas on how to spend it. Despite what the media said about me, I did donate a large portion to many different charities.
Zac was one of my advisors and one of five members on the board. He worked 365 days a year 24/7. He was a fucking machine. He acted as if he was the CEO and tried to control me by bitching about how many days I took off.
"The day you own this company, you can start telling me when to wake up." I spat in his face, pushing Nick off of me.
My phone buzzed on my nightstand. Everyone looked over at it.
"You gonna get that lover boy?" Andrew pointed and laughed.
I gave him a quick glare before picking the phone up.
"Hello?"
The line was silent.
"Who the fu-"
"I told them."
"Shit, what?" I asked, sitting down on the bed and gesturing for the boys to leave the room.
"I told them." she repeated quietly.
"And?"
"I panicked and packed my things." she replied.
"Mel, where are you?" I asked, standing up and grabbing my shirt.
There was another long silence.
"Melody, don't make me ask again."
"I found a hotel to stay at for the night." Mel replied slowly.
I sighed. It was good news that she told her parents but they obviously didn't take it well if she ran to a hotel.
"They press followed me." she added. "They are outside and won't go away."
"I'll come get you." I said, grabbing my keys and running down the stairs.
She said nothing.
"I... I need one night to myself."
"Tell me where you are." I demanded, ignoring her completely.
The guys were standing around the kitchen table. Nick tried to get my attention to ask what was going on but I turned my back to him.
"Melody." I said, clenching the phone.
"I'll come over tomorrow and we can talk then. Please Shawn, I just need one night." she begged.
I didn't want her staying at a hotel, I wanted her in my bed where I could protect her. Who knows what her parents might do. What if they sent agents to take her home? What if they took her and sent her away? What would I do without her? I had finally gotten her and I wasn't going to let her slip away easy.
Shawn, what the fuck is going on with you? You're the world's most eligible bachelor. You used to fuck a different bitch each day. Why do you care so much about some chick you hardly know?
"Mel, please. I need to see you tonight." I blurted out before I could really think about what I wanted to say.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"Melody pl-" the call ended with a click.
Rage filled my body. I threw my phone at the brick wall, causing it to shatter into pieces
"Shawn, what the hell?" yelled Noah.
I pulled my hair back and placed my hands on my head.
"Leave." I yelled back. "Fucking. Leave."
The guys looked at each other and moved towards the door.
"I guess we'll see you tomorrow at the office." Zac said, closing the door behind him.
I slammed my body back onto the couch and fell right back to sleep. This day just needed to end already.
