"Stop." I whined, turned towards him.
I pushed him away and took a step back. The dimly lit room was filled with tables and fine china.
"Looks like there's going to be a party or something in here tomorrow." he joked, strolling past me, lightly sliding his finger across the back of a chair.
He picked up a perfect white plate and stared at it.
"Yah know, this could have been us."
Shawn turned to look at me. He must have gone mad. There was no way I was going to marry him. Especially at a goddy hotel like this. He would have taken me to Vegan and been done in an hour.
"You know that would have never happened." I replied, crossing my arms.
"You're right, you're the one who refused to marry me." he laughed, setting the plate down.
"Bullshit. You proposed to me in front of the entire world and then expected me to just jump on the Mel and Shawn are getting married wagon."
"I thought it was a romantic gesture. Most women would have loved it." he shot back.
I rolled my eyes.
"Romantic gesture my ass! You did it because you felt obligated to marry me because I was pregnant!" I screamed.
Shawn got really quiet. He opened his mouth to replied but nothing came out. Right after Penny's death, when we had gotten home, Shawn had thrown himself back into work. He was hardly home and when he was, he was set on having another baby.
"So what? You blame me for Penny's death still?" he asked.
"I have never blamed you! You blame yourself!"
"Now that's some bullshit! I accepted the fact that our daughter was born sick but you, you needed someone to blame so you blamed me!" he yelled back.
"I was grieving her death and YOU decided that YOU wanted to try again. You didn't ask me, you just expected me to be okay with it! YOU pushed me to my limit and that's what I blame YOU for."
He got quiet again. We both were finally accepting the truth. We had hurt each other.
"I'm sorry I pushed you away. I just wanted you to be happy."
He was being the genuine and kind guy I had fallen in love with over a year ago.
"I'm sorry I shut you out." I responded.
"I miss you..." Shawn started, trailing off.
Shawn was technically married to Kendall but everyone but Kendall knew he didn't love her. Kendall just wanted the money and the fame. She wanted a man that she could control and show like a dog.
"I'm getting married tomorrow and you're already married. We've both moved on." I said.
"I love you."
"We need to go our separate ways." I ignored him as he took a step closer.
"I love you."
"I can't go through the pain again. I'm happy now." I lied.
He took another step closer.
"I love you."
He grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him.
"Please, I can't do this again."
"You say you can't but you know you will." he smirked.
I tried to push him away but he had a strong hold on me.
"I was pregnant."
He quickly let me go and pushed me away.
"Wait... what?" he asked. "Was it mine?"
"I lost the baby shortly after we broke up."
"Why didn't you tell me?" asked Shawn.
"Because I knew if I did, I would have ran back to you and wouldn't have been able to move on."
Shawn grabbed my face and planted his lips on mine. I tangled my fingers in his hair. I had really missed this. I missed his touch. I missed everything about him.
The doors to the ballroom flung open.
"Melody Christine!" my mother shrieked.
Shawn and I quickly looked in her direction. Her mouth was wide open and her eyes looked as if they were going to pop out of her head.
"Get away from her!" she yelled, storming towards the both of us.
Shawn rolled his eyes and chuckled.
"Or what?"
Mother pushed Shawn away from me and grabbed my wrist.
"You're getting married to Waylon tomorrow! What do you think you're doing?" she screamed, getting in my face.
Shawn grabbed my other wrist.
"Get off of her! She can make her own decisions."
"I don't think your wife would be to happy about this!" mother glared.
Shawn pulled me harder, causing my mother to lose her grip. I fell into Shawn's arms.
"Now look what you've done! She's going to have bruises all over her arms! How are we supposed to cover that up." whined mother. "Melody, let's go. You have a big day tomorrow."
Shawn and my mother both looked at me. They wanted me to choose. Either I go with mother back up to my room, then marry Waylon tomorrow, or I could run away with Shawn.
I stepped away from the both of them.
"I'm going up to my room now."
Before either of them could protest, I left the room. I went straight upstairs and right to bed. I was done with the drama. I couldn't handle the stress. Tomorrow I was going to marry Waylon. I was going to accept the fact that I was going to be a pearl necklace wearing housewife.
