Shawn's POV
"Stop trying to hurt my feelings!" she yelled back.

"Baby, I'm sorry." I apologized, stepping towards her.

"You can't be a dick one minute and expect me to just forgive you the next!"

Pushing me back by my chest, she ran to the bathroom and locked the door.

"I'm sorry Melody!" I yelled, banging on the door. "I love you!"

She started crying as I continued to pound on the door.

"Open the door baby." I pleased.

"Go away!" she yelled.

"Melody, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!"

"Then why did you say it?" she cried.

I slowly backed away from the door. Melody was right, I needed to sleep this off. I obviously wasn't thinking straight. It was a mistake to try and drink my problems away.

1 Hour Before

I had called to check in with the guys back home and they were unusually quiet.

"The deal is off." Zac blurted.

"What?"

"They said that they want to go with a bigger company." Noah chimed in.

"What does that mean? Just because we don't have a shit ton of offices that we are inferior?"

"They already made up their minds." Nick added.

"They said that other people are saying the same thing." Andrew said, flipping through a stack of papers.

"Fuck."

I had to do something or the company would go under. If our current clients go wind that other major investors were backing out, all hell would break loose.

"I guess we're expanding them. Draw up some numbers on how much we have to spend on a New York office."

"I don't think that's-" Zac started.

"Do it." I demanded.

I hung up the phone and rubbed my temples. These morons couldn't do anything without me. I poured myself a drink to relax.

5 drinks later, I was feeling pretty warm and good.

I stumbled upstairs to find Mel unpacking and watching tv. Here we are now: Mel is crying again and has locked herself in the bathroom, I'm angry and sorry.

I unbuttoned my shirt and took of my pants. I was so tired that I could hardly walk. That also might have been the 5 drinks. The bed was neatly made so naturally I threw all the unwanted pillows across the room before crawling into bed and turning off the light.

The bathroom door creaked open and Mel tiptoed out.

"Mel?" I asked in a quiet voice.

She took a step back. All I wanted was her to forgive me.

"Melody." I repeated, turning towards her.

Her eyes slowly shut and he body went limp. What the fuck was she doing?

"Melody?" I asked again, shooting out of bed, catching her before she could touch the ground.

I held her in my arms, feeling her wrist and neck for a heartbeat. She was out cold and was not waking up. I carried her over to the bed and tucked her in. She needed to be seen by a someone.

I ran over to the phone and dialed the front desk to request a private doctor they had on staff. 5 minutes later there was a knock on the front door. Running downstairs in nothing but my boxers, I answered the door and instructed them to where she was.

The doctor listened to her heart and performed many small test.

He pulled me aside outside the room.

"Well it's obvious that she fainted. I'm guessing it from stress and exhaustion."

I rubbed my temples and sighed.

"Is she going to be okay?" I asked.

"She needs to take it easy for the next day or two. This is a serious matter. She could end up the in the hospital if this keeps happening."

"But why does this happen?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Everyone reacts to stress in different ways. Mel doesn't take it well so her body shuts down."

I thanked him for his help and he gave me his card. He wanted to see her again the next day when she had been awake for a few hours.

I wandered back into the room where Mel was still lying motionless on the bed. Grabbing the chair from across the room, I sat down next to her.

"I'm so sorry Mel." I cried, grabbing her hand and laying my head on the bed.

I drifted off to sleep holding her hand.

The Next Morning
Mel quickly pulled her hand away and moved away from me.

"It's alright." I comforted.

Sadness filled her eyes as she remembered the previous night. I had really fucked up again.

"I'm going to go call the doctor." I said, standing up.

She quickly looked at the clock and jumped out of bed.

"I'm supposed to go see Natasha today."

I grabbed her shoulders and sat her back down on the bed.

"You need rest. Doctors orders."

"I have plans." she replied.

"I'll call Natasha."

She held back tears as she looked up at me. I pulled her in for a hug and rubbed her back.

"I'm so sorry about last night. I snapped."

She was silent. I released her and left her alone in the room so that I could call the doctor. He came back up and examined her. While he was with her, I called natasha.

"Hey Mel, what's up?" Natasha answered.

"It's Shawn actually."

"Oh um... where's Mel?" she asked.

"She fainted last night and is on bed rest for the next few days."

"Is she okay? Can I talk to her?" begged Natasha.

"She needs rest."

For the next 10 minutes, we went back and forth arguing about Mel. I had to ruin the surprise and tell her about us moving to NYC. Natasha was worried that I was pressuring her and causing her extra stress. She wasn't wrong about the stress part. I know I needed to work on my temper when it came to her. Some days she just drove me completely mad.

Natasha and I finally came to an agreement. We decided that if Mel was up to it, tomorrow, they could get together for lunch while I was off at work.

I hurried back up to Mel's bedside. She clearly was upset about having to stay in bed all day. She refused to look me in the eyes.

"Can we talk about last night?" she asked, staring out the window.

"There is nothing to talk about. We should move on from it."

"I want to talk about it." she demanded.

"It won't happen again." I promised. "I'll make it up to you."

I've gone completely soft. If this would have happened with any other girl, I wouldn't have apologised. I would have kicked her out of my apartment and never called her. With Mel, I just felt like I needed to protect her. So far, I was doing a shitty job.

"Please." I begged, falling to my knees in front of her.

Mellie's POV
"Please." he begged, falling to his knees in front of me.

I looked towards the window.

"I need to go for a walk."

"Mel please. You need rest." he pleaded, looking up at me.

He stood up and placed his hand on my cheek. I placed my over his and sighed. Shawn and I weren't working. We were fire and rain, night and day. He was dark, mysterious and had an unpredictable temper. I was innocent, shy and naive.

"Why do I love you so much?" I asked, looking into his deep eyes.

He placed his forehead against mine.

"I need to go."

He quickly let me go and took a step back.

"W-what?" he asked.

"We are two different people." I started. "I thought we could make this work but..."

But what? You just said you loved me." he whined.

I took a deep breath and stood up. I walked over to my suitcase and started packing.

"You're serious?" he asked.

"I need someone who will fight for me and not with me." I shouted, turning around.

"I'm trying to but you keep changing your goddamn mind!" he yelled back. "What do you want?"

What did I want? Half of me wanted to run home to my parents, where I was safe. The other half wanted to be adventurous and go with my heart.

"I want..." I trailed off.

"You want want?"

I paused, looking up to stop the tears.

"I want you." I replied, throwing my clothes on the floor and running into his arms.

He embraced me tightly.

"No more fighting." I cried.

"I promise." he said, kissing the top of my head.
