Driving in New York was impossible and I honestly would get lost if I tried so I decided to take the subway. It wasn't that bad and I only got recognized by four people who were very nice. They politely asked for a picture with me and then would go on their way. New York was so big that it was easy to blend in, even when my face was still all over. When will people get over this shit?
I arrived on set and was nearly tackled by Nat.
"I missed you!" she screamed, kissing all over my face.
She was then called back to work so I took a seat on a huge white couch.
"You're Mellie Hutson?" a man asked, sitting next to me.
"I am, and you are?"
"Emmett Underwood." he responded, extending his hand.
I liked meeting new people but this guy just kept staring at me.
"I know this sounds crazy but are you looking for any acting jobs at the moment?"
"Oh no. I just moved here with my b-... friend. We haven't really settled in." I replied.
It was really weird calling Shawn my boyfriend so I just stuck with friend.
"Well if I offered you a part in a new show I'm writing and producing, would you say yes? Emmett asked.
"Depends on the script."
"18th century, royal family and drama. Sound interesting?"
If this show was as crazy as Emmett, I might actually consider taking the job.
"So you'll just give me a part?" I asked.
"Well I would want you to read a little something for the other producers but I can guarantee you'll get a casted." he reassured me.
"When and where?"
He handed me his card and instructed me to write down my number.
"I'll call you with details in a week."
He shook my hand one last time and got up. Did I just get a job?
I waited around for another hour and before I knew it, Nat was done and we were heading back to the hotel.
"Are you hungry?" I asked, shutting the door behind us."I can order us something."
"Sure!" she exclaimed, sitting on the couch. "Is Shawn here?"
"He has meeting all day but will be back later."
I dialed the kitchen number and placed out order.
"I'm excited to meet him." she said as I sat down next to her. "He's quite the guy according to the internet."
"Did you google him?" I laughed.
"Duh!"
There was a knock at the door.
"I'll be right back!"
I ran to the door and swung it open.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in complete shock.
"Where's Shawn?" Desmond asked.
"Not here."
"Why are you in a room that he is paying for and he's not here?" he asked, crossing his arms.
I rolled my eyes.
"I have a friend over so have a nice day."
I started to shut the door but he put his foot in the way.
"Answer my question."
"I'm not talking to you about this. Please leave or I'll call the police." I demanded, kicking his foot out of the way and shutting the door.
"Who was that?" Nat asked.
"Shawn's dad." I replied, sitting back down on the couch.
Nat's phoned buzzed. She furiously looked down at it and typed away.
"Do you wanna go out tonight with my group of friends?" she asked.
"Sureeeee." I replied.
"You don't sound so sure.""I don't usually go out at night unless it's with Shawn." I said, looking at my feet.
She rolled her eyes.
"Don't be that girl! You can go out without him!"
"I know I can!" I shot back.
"Then will you go?"
"Fine." I replied.
Nat jumped and danced around. The food arrived and we quickly ate. She decided to run home to get ready and was going to be back around 8pm.
I looked through my clothes. What do you wear for a night out with friends? Do I wear sexy or cute?
I decided to postpone getting dressed and went into the bathroom to do my hair and makeup. I turned on some music to get myself pumped for tonight.
"I'm back." Shawn yelled from the floor below.
"Up here!" I replied, dancing around the bathroom.
Shawn stood in the doorway, undoing his tie.
"Where are you heading to?"
"Nat invited me to go out." I replied, putting eyeliner on.
Anger washed over his face.
"And what am I supposed to do? Sit here alone all night while you are out?"
"I don't know! Maybe you can come with." I replied, turning towards him.
I grabbed my phone and dialed Nat's number. The phone rang and rang.
"You better not be calling to tell me that you're chickening out." groand Nat.
"No... actually I had a questions.... Can Shawn come?"
"If he wants to. I didn't think he would." she replied.
We finished talking and decided to meet everyone at the subway near Nat's place.
"You can come if you want."
"Where are we going?" he asked, changing into a different shirt.
"Some club, bar place."
"You're joking right?" he whined.
I rolled my eyes and ignored him. I really liked going to clubs. It was a fun way to just goof off with your friends. Everyone always complained as their friends dragged them there but once they got into it, they usually were the ones who had the most fun.
We left the apartment around 7:30 after I finally decided on an outfit. Shawn and I got on the subway near the hotel.
"They delivered the key." he said, taking out an envelope.
I shrieked with excitement.
"We can start moving in tomorrow after I get back from the few meetings I have."
I gave Shawn a long kiss, making him smile. We got off 10 minutes later and walked to the middle of the station where Nat and her friends were starting to gather. Nat started introducing her friends.
"This is Freddy, Julien, Cassandra, Margaret and Roy."
She pointed to everyone and they gave a little wave.
"And this is-"
"We know who they are." Roy chuckled.
"Great." Shawn blurted, rubbing his neck.
There was a small group of strangers that had started crowding around up, trying to snap pictures.
"I see your fans are here!" Nat joked, making me blush.
"Well let's give them a show!" I smiled.
Whispering in Nat ear and she nodded her head.
"Follow along!" I said to Shawn.
I ran over to a guy sitting on the floor with a guitar case and asked him to help. He agreed and ran back to the group with me.
"1, 2, 3" the guitar guy yelled and started playing.
I started and pointed to Shawn to join in.
The crowd around us grew bigger and bigger. More people with instruments ran over to join in.
We finished singing and there was a roar of applause.
"Do another!" someone yelled from the crowd.
"I'm sorry! We can't!" I replied, side-hugging Shawn. "Thank you everyone."
"We're going to miss our train!" Nat yelled.
We grabbed of stuff and took off running. We all made it just in time. Right as we sat down, the doors shut and we took off.
"That was amazing!" Cassandra praised.
The rest of the ride there was filled with jokes and laughter. Even Shawn was enjoying himself. I knew he would.
I was really glad that we were getting along with Nat's friends. Especially for me, I didn't know many people here.
"Oh guy! This weekend we're having a housewarming party!"
"We are?" questioned Shawn.
Everyone laughed as we got off the train and made our way to the bar. Outside was a large group of people yelling.
"I wonder what's going on." Roy asked, standing on his toes to try and see why there were so many people.
We walked closer to the bouncer and finally got a good look at why so many people were freaking out.
"Oh my god, is that Kendall?" Margaret asked.
"Fuck me. God, why?" Shawn groaned making the group burst out laughing.
