"Oh my fucking god Mel, are you pregnant?" he shouted in an angry tone.
I couldn't even look him in the eyes. I was so nervous and upset. He jumped out of bed and ran over to me.
"Answer me!" he yelled, lightly shaking my shoulders.
"Yes." I whimpered, slowly looking up into his eyes.
All the color from his face drained. He let me go and sat down on the bed.
"This isn't a joke? Right?" he asked.
"It's real."
"If you're joking, I'm going to be super pissed." he growled.
"I'm pregnant."
"Oh my god." he replied, covering his mouth and laying back on the bed,
We both we silent for a good 10 minutes.
"Are you mad?"
"Mad? God no!" he said, jumping out of bed again and running to me. "I'm happy, really scared but happy!"
He hugged my tightly.
"We're going to be parents!" he said, kissing all over my face. "You're going to get a belly and be so adorable."
Shawn placed his hand on my stomach and smiled.
"I just can't believe it. I thought we were being careful."
"Accidents happen." he chuckled, kissing me again.
I really wasn't fond of people who call their pregnancies an accident. You don't accidently fall into a penis with your vagina so you didn't accidently get pregnant. Not all babies are planned but to me, they never are accidents.
"Don't you need to go to the doctor or something?" Shawn asked, holding onto to hips.
"I will soon, after the holiday's."
Just thinking about the baby made me nervous. We were bringing a new life into the world.
"I'm so scared." I whimpered.
"Don't be. We are going to be great parents! This kid is going to be so loved!"
Shawn kissed me one last time before crawling back into bed.
"I need to call Natasha."
"Don't tell her yet!" he whined.
"She's the one who bought me the test."
He rolled his eyes and laid back down. I grabbed my phone and quickly dialed. Nat picked up and started asking me a million questions. I finally came out and told her. Her scream nearly made me go deaf.
After a long conversation about how much she wanted a little girl to spoil, I made her swear not to tell anyone. She reluctantly promised if I promised to let her spoil the baby.
The next week was crazy. Shawn had cut back on work for the time being because I was still feeling sick. We hesitantly told Emmett, who was pissed at first but came around. As year came closer to an end, the magazines started releasing their "2015 in Review" issues. Shawn and I had been asked to be on 11 covers.
"Payback for getting pregnant." Emmet would say as we attended all 11 shoots.
For New Year's Eve, we were invited to host the show live in Times Square. This was one of the biggest things I've ever been asked to do.
"Can you see my stomach in this?" I asked Shawn, looking in the mirror.
He chuckled and rolled his eyes.
"You're beautiful either way."
We finished last looks and stepped out onto the stage. The crowd cheered as we waved to everyone. We walked to our mark and stopped facing the teleprompters.
"Hello everyone and Happy New Year's Eve! I'm Shawn."
"And I'm Mellie!" I chimed in.
"With just 2 minutes til midnight, we are coming to you live from Time Square New York City!" Shawn shouted.
"2015 was a great year but who's excited for 2016?" I asked, making the crowd go wild.
Music played, the crowd jumped around and a confetti cannon went off. The big timer slowly ticked down from 1 minute.
"3... 2... 1... Happy New Year!" Shawn and I both yelled.
Shawn dropped his mic and pulled me in for a passionate kiss. I wrapped my hands around his neck and pulled him close. The camera zoomed in on us along with other couples ringing in the new year. Shawn released me and I turned towards the people to watch everyone. The crowd started to quiet down as the fireworks started to go off.
"And now, please direct your attention back to Shawn and Mellie!" the announcer boomed.
I looked over to Shawn. He was down on one knee.
"Shawn?" I questioned, holding back tears.
Shawn picked up his mic and held a small box in the other.
"Mel, you are kindest girl I have ever met and I would be so lucky to spend the rest of my life with you."
I completely lost it and burst into tears. This was the sweetest thing he had ever done but in the back of my mind, he was only doing it because I was pregnant. It's like I had backed him into a wall and he had no other choice but to do the right thing and marry me.
"Melody Christine Hutson, would you do me the great honor and marry me?" he asked, looking up at me.
I covered my mouth and nodded my head yes. How could I say no to him on live tv? He quickly jumped up, took off my glove and placed the on my finger. Everyone clapped as he kissed me once again. We said our final goodbye and exited the stage.
In the moment, I was in complete shock but as soon as we were away from the public, rage filled my body. I had told him that I didn't want to get married. I wasn't ready to commit to someone for the rest of my life. The pregnancy wasn't planned and now that it's my reality, I can't do much about it but getting married, I could sure as hell stop that.
We were quickly escorted to a private VIP tent area where there were other celebrities. Everyone congratulated us and joking asked when the wedding was. Despite my feelings, I had to put on a happy face and go along with it.
Around 1 am the performances stopped and everyone in the tent said their goodbye. We were escorted back to our car.
"Were you surprised?" Emmett asked, turning around to face me.
"You knew about this?" I shot back.
"We planned this! Duh!"
I turned to Shawn and he smiled. I looked at him with a straight face and then back out the window. He tried to move closer to me but I kept pushing him away. The car dropped us off at our building and we rushed inside to avoid the cameras in our face. Shawn, Emmett and I stood in the lody. Shawn and Emmett were talking about sports or the weather or something. Without saying anything, I turned towards the elevator and rode up alone.
The engagement pissed me off to no end. I wasn't ready to have a baby or get married but I guess both was happening.
I took the ring and the promise ring he previously gave me off and set it on the kitchen counter. The heels made my feet ache and the outfit I was wearing was too tight. My bloated stomach made my stylist team work even harder to dress me. I finally made it up to the bedroom and changed into a set of pajamas.
I stood and looked in the mirror. Soon I would have to buy new clothes and I would start showing. Hiding it would be much harder so we would have to tell people. My mother is going to slip into coma when she hears about the engagement. I rubbed my belly and sighed. This is going to be a long 9 months.
"So tell me honestly, were you surprise?" Shawn asked, standing in the doorway.
I looked at him and then slowly turned back to the mirror without saying anything.
"Speechless I see. Let me see how it looks on your hand!" he demanded, walking over and grabbed my wrist.
I quickly pulled away, causing him to notice the lack of jewels.
"What did you do with the ring?" he asked, stepping towards me.
"I left them on the counter."
"Is there something wrong with it?" he questioned as he started to get angry.
"I don't want to marry you." I blurted.
He quickly grabbed my throat and pushed me against the wall. The smell of alcohol lingered on his breathe.
"You fucking bitch! I give you everything and now you don't want to marry me?" he yelled in my face.
"Stop!" I screamed, gasping for air. "The baby!"
He realised what he had done and released me. I fell the ground, unable to breathe.
"Oh my god... I-I'm so sorry!" he shouted, kneeling down next to me.
I grabbed my knee in pain. The fall made me land weird and slam down onto my entire leg. He attempted to help me up but I shoved him away.
"You're sleeping in another room." I demanded, getting on my feet.
"Wait, Mel, I said I was sorry!"
"Get away from me." I screamed, pushing past him and crawling into bed.
He started to walk over to his side of the bed.
"If you get into this bed, I'm calling the police."
Shawn turned around and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. I jumped up and locked the door, hoping he wouldn't come back.
