DARYL
Michonne and me are spotting for Rick. And we move up to our first door.
When he soundlessly pushed it open, I quickly scanned the room. Hold up one finger, before standin aside and taking aim down the hallway.
My head swivels back, just in time to see him grimace. When his knife slid into the Saviors skull.
The slightest movement catches the corner of my eye. I watch Nate and Jorge leave one room before heading onto their next.
Breath hitches in my throat. When I glimpse the knife that's gripped in her hand. It's dripping tiny spots of blood onto her boot.
'Shouldn't be here doing this, no matter how capable she is. This just ain't right....it shouldn't ever have to be this way for her!' I lamented sadly, as they both edged out of sight again.
As silent as ghosts.

A couple of minutes later, we inched our way down another long corridor. This time with Rick in the lead. Suddenly, the sound of an alarm ripped its way through the deathly quiet.
"GO!" He screamed, after putting a bullet in a guy who'd run across the walkway above our heads.
His body fell heavily to the ground about ten yards in front of me.
The noise of automatic gunfire surrounds us now. Can barely hear the alarm over it as we race around the corridors. Takin out Saviors as they try to shoot us.
One guy slammed into my shoulder. Then hightailed it straight through a door, trying to pull it shut behind him. Gripping tight, I wrench it open. Whip my rifle around and crush his skull with the butt.
Over and over again, until he stilled.
A long volley of shots comes from around the corner. When I sprint towards it, I nearly go ass-over. As my feet slide across the blood spray that's covering the floor.
Lift my rifle. To take out the guy who's raising a pistol at Glenn and Heath. But another gunshot rings out.
"So, this is the next world" Jesus whispered, lowering his own weapon.
We all stand there, taking in the pile of bodies on the ground before us. Remain silent and listen, as other muffled gunshots come through. Followed by even more....from outside the building.
Aaron, Sasha, Rosie and Abraham sidled up with their weapons at the ready.
There's a rustle and grunt from overhead. Manage to scuttle my ass back just in time, afore his body hit the ground inches from my feet. Rifle clattering beside him.
When I glared upwards, a face peered over the guardrails. Nate mouthed a sheepish 'Sorry' to me, afore climbin over. She jumped, landing lightly on top of a bank of filing cabinets that lined the hall.
Blue reached out. Grabbed hold and swung her down until she was standing beside the rest of us.
Jorge flew around the corner, signing for everyone to keep looking....searching.

A half-hour later, I throw both hands up to shield my eyes.
Stoppin the almighty dawn glare when Rick wrenched up a set of roller doors. Revealing the rear courtyard of the complex, where half a dozen or so vehicles were parked.
We all spread out into formation and did a sweep of this area as well. Weapons were eventually lowered, and everyone stilled. Just staring at each other in sheer relief.
