Oh My English!

I did not like English, it is a fact,
[B]
I didn't like English too, it didn't keep me hooked;
[A]
Lessons are boring, motivation I lack,
[B]
I'm not going to lie, don't give me that look!
[A & B]
If you sit idly by,
We'll tell you exactly why.
[A]
For "I" we use "am"
and for "he" we use "is";
Yet "are" is for "they,"
"we" as well as "you"--
It is so confusing,
I wonder why is this?
[B]
I was told to add "s"
for plural objects
yet child becomes children,
and cactus becomes cacti,
I was told to memorise
whenever I asked why.
[A]
When learning is confusing,
my motivation slowly disappearing;
[B]
When learning is mere memorization,
there will be no internalisation.
[A & B]
My head's somewhere else,
though my body's in the class;
I'm learning nothing,
Tell me: How can I pass?
[A]
One day I went to Penang Hill
together with my family,
My parents went to buy tickets,
so there I sat quietly.
Then a foreigner approached
she asked for a direction,
My tongue was tied,
"There!" only a short interjection.
My face turned red,
I stood there like a fool;
How I really wish
I paid more attention at school!
From that moment on
I speak English regularly,
As I gain more confidence
to articulate words so smoothly.
If I could do it,
so will you;
Put aside your excuses
and start speaking too!

I read comics, I play games
and I love movies all the same.
I love these entertainments
but my heart couldn't feel contentment
I often got stuck, as if I'm in a trap:
The problem lies in my lack of vocab!
So a dictionary I picked up,
difficult words I looked up;
As I read more,
my vocabulary widens
My knowledge increases
and it boosts my confidence,
If I could do it,
so will you;
Put aside your excuses
and start reading too!

Where there's a will,
there's always a way;
Learning is possible,
despite what others say.
[B]
Each one of us
has different learning issue,
But motivation comes from within,
it starts with you!
[A]
Doesn't matter what's your motivation,
[B]
It can be your salvation;
[A]
Mine is embarrassment,
[B]
while mine, entertainment;
[A & B]
As long as you have one,
English mastery is as good as done.
If we could do it,
so will you;
Put aside your excuses
let's learn English too!
