There was once a boy
who believes in kindness--
A heart of gold,
an honest tongue
and readily trusting is his finesse.
He was kind to others,
even though he was lied to.
He was kind to others,
even when he was used.
He was still kind to others,
although he was left behind.
He was always kind to others,
no matter how he was abused.
Years went by ever so quickly,
the boy is now a grown man.
He still believes in kindness
like it is his religion.
He continues to be kind
yet he still gets left behind,
He gets his heart broken
as one after another
leaves him alone--
and he believes that
they, and she
are cruel to him
just to be kind.
Maybe one day this man
will find the kindness he seeks,
as his mind and body
are getting weak.
Or maybe never for him:
As his body gets old,
his heart, a little cold.
