Virgil set down his pencil and stretched, stifling a yawn as he picked up his phone. It said 12:26. Had it really been 3 hours? He stood up and almost fell over immediately causing Logan to look up from the book he had almost finished reading. Patton, who seemed to have fallen into whatever twilight zone exists between consciousness and sleep, didn't stir.

"Are you alright?" He asked

Virgil smiled sheepishly, "Pins and needles," he said, shaking his leg and yawning again.

"What did you draw?" Logan asked, indicating the paper that lay on the bed.

"Oh that? It's n-nothing,"

"Well you sat for the best part of-," he paused to look at his watch, "Three hours drawing it so it clearly isn't 'nothing'"

Virgil chuckled lightly and picked up the paper before handing it nervously to Logan, who gasped.

"Virgil this is amazing!" He said, studying it with a smile spreading across his face.

The drawing was a black and white shaded sketch of Logan and Patton as they were sitting now. Logan was intent on his book with a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth at Patton, who was fiddling with Logan's watch, grinning.
It was then that Patton stirred. He looked up from Logan's chest and smiled on seeing the sketch in his hand.

"Did you draw this?" He said in awe, looking at Virgil, who nodded shyly.
"It's amazing!"

"T-thanks," Virgil said, not used to praise. He had never showed anyone his drawings before.

"How long did it take?"

"About three hours,"

"It's been three hours?!"

Logan chuckled and gently shoved Patton off him, stretching.
"We should probably get some sleep," he said.

-Time Skip-

Virgil's eyes flickered open as sunlight streamed across his face from a slit in the curtains. Groaning, he rolled of the bed and grabbed his phone. 7:32. For once he hadn't slept in. He dressed quickly and headed down the stairs to find Patton, who was looking at his phone, biting his lip with his brow furrowed.

"What's up?" Virgil asked, dropping into a chair.

"My parents had to end their trip early. They're coming back tomorrow,"

Virgil's stomach dropped.

"Will I still be able to stay here?"

Patton shrugged helplessly, his eyes filled with worry. "I don't know. I'll try to talk them into it but we'll have to wait until they get back,"

Virgil bit his lip, an anxious look crossing his face before he shook his head. "We'll worry about it later," he said, injecting his voice with calm confidence he didn't feel.

Patton didn't looked convinced but met the subject drop as Logan wandered in.

"Good morning," he said, planting a kiss on Patton's head as he walked last, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl and pulling out a chair. "What's with the glum look?"

Patton sighed and explained the situation to him.

"Well that is a minor inconvenience," Logan murmured. He glanced at his watch. "Now is not the time to dwell on it though. We have to head to school g we don't want to be late,"

-Another time skippppp-

The first class of the day was biology. Thankfully Patton and Logan were in the same class as Virgil because he was sure he would die of boredom otherwise. They were learning about cells and other boring nonsense that he didn't understand when Mrs Virgil-couldn't-be-bothered-to-learn-her-name-aka-the-authors-lazy (😂) said that she was setting them a group project about their current topic. Virgil tensed at that and edged his chair slightly closer to Logan, hoping they would be allowed to choose their groups. He didn't want to be shoved into a group of people he don't know or like.

"You will be working in groups of four and yes you are allowed to choose as long as you behave. You will have two weeks in class to complete your project as well as any time outside of school if you wish,"

Patton turned to face Logan and Virgil with a grin on his face. "We'll get this done in no time! We have Logan,"

"We need four people though," Virgil pointed out.

"Hm so we do," Patton said, glancing at the rest of the class.

That's as when Virgil saw Roman walking over to them. He internally freaked out but kept his face impassive, eyes downcast in his usual forlorn expression.

"Hey Lo, Pat," Roman said, "Teacher says I have to work with you. Apparently I 'mess around to much'. I have no idea what she means,"

"Hey!" Patton said in his usual cheery manner as Roman say down.

The three of them began do discuss plans for the project while Virgil kept the ability to speak. He managed to add a few suggestions but kept silent for most of the time, although his occasional glances at Roman did not go unnoticed by Patton, who grinned to himself.
