A Year Later
Autumn and I were in my room laughing together after we were watching some good old YouTube videos. It was kind of a ritual that me and Autumn would go to my house and watch videos after school. I wasn't as angry as I used to be, I mean everything was going well for me for once. I had my best friends Autumn and Fred, Apollo and I were talking once again. Mom and I were finally on good terms and Arthur was now gone for now but I know he would be coming back actually. I really didn't want him to come back at all. If it were up to me, he wouldn't be coming back but that's not my choice.
"Can you believe we are juniors" Autumn exclaimed to me and I just laughed at her comment.
"Yeah which means soon enough it will be senior year and then you and I can leave this horrible towns and leave our parents behind" I told her and Autumn high-fived me.
"What you going to do for this year" Autumn asked me mostly because Autumn was that person who wanted to do clubs and do all of the cliché high school stuff that you see in movies but me I was the opposite.
"I can't believe we are going to be 16 soon which means permits and driving and everything" Autumn excitedly spoke and I rolled my eyes.
"You mean I'm going to get my license and then I will be forced to drive you around school which I rather not do" I told her and Autumn just shrugged her shoulders.
"That's what friends do and as your best friend it is your duty to take me places" Autumn pointed out to me and I just rolled my eyes at her once again.
"Yeah right, last time I checked I'm not a chauffeur at all and even if I was you not paying me to do that job" I told her and Autumn just laughed with her bright beaming smile on her face.
"Do you think about how our life would have changed if we had different parents" I asked Autumn and Autumn just smiled at me. "I mean sometimes I wonder if I would be as determined to leave this forsaken town if I had parents that actually cared about my wellbeing." I turned towards her waiting for her answer.
"Yeah I think about it all the time. I think if we had different parents then I wouldn't necessarily feel like a mistake or even might feel like I am enough" Autumn spoke and we just sat in silence taking in our confessions to each other.
"I feel that way sometimes" I finally said after moments of silence. Autumn just nodded her head.
"It just no matter how great my grades are, they never cared about me and it's kind of sad that I'm used to being ignored" Autumn shrugged her shoulders and she put her head on my shoulder.
"Yeah I'm used to all of the trouble behind closed doors" I whispered to Autumn. "but hey we can be fucked ups together" I nudged Autumn and she just laughed while shaking her head.
"You are so weird you know that" Autumn stated to me and I just smiled at her big.
"I'm just being myself" I told her and Autumn just nodded her head.
"I admire you for being yourself" Autumn told me and I knew she meant it but it made me feel slightly guilty about what I was going to do to Apollo and the gods. I wonder if Autumn would ever forgive me if she knew about all the secrets I was keeping from her but it was for her own good.
"I admire your personality" I replied to her and Autumn just smiled at me when she looked at her phone.
"I have to get home. I'll see you later" Autumn kissed my cheek before climbing out of my window."I still don't know why you refused to go through the front door" I told Autumn and Autumn shrugged her shoulders.
"Because it's fun this way" Autumn finally got down and she run away from my lawn. I just laughed while shaking my head. I watched as she ran down the street from my bedroom window and when I turned around there stood Persephone. I almost screamed but I didn't.
