I looked into the darkness of night as Hikari sat next to me, keeping me company.
'I think we're safe now,' he whispered softly.
'You can't be too careful,' I whispered back.
I looked out of the window again, noticing a bright light fade then return to its original brightness.
The others sat up, obviously having seen the strange light.
'Weapons ready,' I ordered them.
They got their weapons at hand, ready in case of emergency. It could be anyone.
It could be...
Vrosvurs.
'Chill out you guys! I didn't fancy any of the food in here so I raided another house across the street,' she explained as she emptied her goodies onto the ground.
'What about the light?' I asked her.
She shrugged, 'you saw it too?'
I nodded.
'Anyone else?' She asked.
They all raised their hands into the air.
I looked out of the window again to find a face staring back at me through the gloom of the night.
I shrieked as the others crowded round the window to see the face. It wasn't like any I'd ever seen. It wasn't human nor demon.
'Someone go look,' I whispered tentatively.
Hikari peeked out of the door.
'Nothing there. Must be our eyes playing tricks on us,' he reported back.
The face kept on staring at me as I sat back down near the same window, hoping I could forget it was there.
'Baby, you look scared,' Hikari said,'is it the face?'
I nodded and swapped places with him. The face still in its fixed position.
Then something twigged inside my head.
Nearly every house in every part of Hell had windows that, at night, would show a face so as to deter intruders during the national Purge day.
'I just realised it's one of those windows that sho-,' I was cut off short by a noise outside.
'Show what?' Anri asked.
I stood up as I heard the noise getting louder and louder. It was as if someone was in a lot of pain.
There were heavy footsteps coming closer as I looked around to find nothing.
'Get the weapons and supplies, we're going,' I told everyone.
They gathered their weapons once more as I looked around for a back entrance. I settled for a window that had been smashed open as an exit.
I jumped out of the window and onto the street just as I saw a figure that looked like Raitoningu from the Lethe clan.
'Raitoningu!' I dared call out to the figure who turned around.
'Who is speaking?' He answered in a thick French accent.
I slunk into the shadows, careful to keep the glow of the lava in my veins hidden.
'Ambrosia?' He called out.
I stayed silent as the leaves below him crunched as he tried to find me. Raitoningu walked straight passed me as he looked around.
I looked around for a way to get out of the alleyway without being seen. I saw a high brick wall with a figure stood on it wearing a flowing shirt with sleeves that moved in the night wind.
From that point on, I knew I had found my new challenger.
Jiin, leader of the Cocytus clan had found me at last.
