I walked determinedly through the streets of Torture City followed by Ito and Hikari. I didn't care about the dangers anymore, I had to fight this war for my friends.
'Where to?' Hikari asked Ito.
We followed Ito for what seemed like ages but was really five or ten minutes.
'Here!' He said leading us into a desolate house just north of the centre.
I jumped through the window and saw what I had to work with. The house was beautifully furnished, as if it hadn't been touched at all.
'This is beautiful,' I breathed.
'I should hope so. I used to live here!' Ito grinned.
I sat back on a chair. It felt as if I was being pulled into it.
I looked through the food bag and saw we were nearly out of supply already.
'Any food in here?' I asked.
Hikari went to the kitchen to see what food there was to offer.
'Well there's beans, canned blood, human teeth,' he listed off.
'I heard human teeth?' I stood up curiously. I had always liked the taste of human teeth.
Hikari passed me the jar just as a low rumbling came from outside.
'I'll go look,' I told Ito and Hikari as I placed the jar on a nearby table.
I ran out of the door, bracing myself in case of attack.
I saw what the rumbling was. There was a group of hundreds or even thousands of creatures with feathery wings coming towards me.
Angels. A demon's greatest enemy.
I heard a crash behind me and turned around to see Ito and Hikari lying in a heap on the floor. Something or someone must've pushed them out of the window.
'Hikari? Ito?' I poked them both with the tip of my boot.
They groaned as they stood up and were covered in bruises and cuts and scratches.
'Angels,' Hikari saw what was coming towards us.
I nodded. Angels were surrounding us, some were stood on the rooftops and some were stood on the floor, leaving us in the middle of them.
'What do we do?!' I hissed.
Hikari looked around and waved to some people stood nearby.
'Ambrosia, meet my sister, Mei, you know Yamauba and my friend Sakumo,' he introduced me to them one by one.
Mei had pink hair and was wearing a black choker with a black see through dress but not see through enough to see her breasts.
Yamauba, or Aria, was just her ordinary self. Black hair, green clothes and black eyes.
Sakumo had a white combover and had a black leather jacket and a black collared shirt and he had blue eyes.
'So is that it?' I asked,'there's hundreds or even thousands of them surrounding us!'
'Chill,' Sakumo said in a Spanish accent,'these are all projections, if we find the person who's projecting them then they'll go.'
'And I think you've found that person,' a female voice called from nowhere.
We all looked around for the person who spoke when I looked up and saw who it was.
Anri.
'Anri! You're the one doing this?!' I exclaimed.
She nodded,'yup! But I couldn't project them all without the help of my boyfriend!'
'Damn right, baby!' Azurewrath grinned.
I got my bow ready in case of attack and looked at them.
'The two brats together,' I commented.
That sent Azurewrath over the edge. He lunged towards me with a knife in his hand. I dropped my bow on the floor and blocked his attack quickly.
'W-Woah,' he stuttered,'Ambrosia, how did you get that strong?!'
I shrugged.
'Practice, I guess,' I said flatly.
He backed away slowly, making sure to keep a good distance between him and me.
'Azurewrath, you wuss!' Anri jeered at him,'attack her again!'
Azurewrath shook his head,'no!'
'Fine I will,' she lunged at me with the same speed as a Katakana.
'No!' Yamauba stood in front of me to stop Anri from hurting me.
I pinched a knife out of Anri's pocket and made it pierce through her abdomen, making her scream out in pain.
I watched as some of the angels faded into nothingness and soon only a few were left.
Until they kept multiplying.
'They weren't there before! You're on your own, suckers!' Azurewrath ran into the night, leaving us to defend ourselves.
'What do we do?!' I hissed.
I spotted out of the corner of my eye a figure fighting the angels before they reached us.
'Who is that?' I asked.
I squinted and saw there were two figures fighting them.
'Is that Raitoningu and Kemono?' I asked.
I squinted more and saw the figures really were Raitoningu and Kemono.
'Raitoningu!' I cried,'Kemono!'
They turned around and spotted me and ran while also killing the angels.
'Ambrosia!' Kemono said,'where have you been?'
I didn't answer,'it's not the time for chit chat,' I told her.
She nodded as the angels advanced faster towards us
Anri, still trapped with us, climbed through the window Ito and Hikari had fallen out of only to be ripped to shreds by angels that had gotten into the house behind us.
They had gotten into the house behind us!
They were getting closer and closer and we weren't even noticing.
The shrill scream of Anri sounded around the square, causing the angels to cover their ears and scream as well.
I covered my ears as well as everyone else as the sound of a million screams sounded around the city.
This was the hardest challenge yet.
