Chapter 4 - No Place I'd Rather Be

I'm in shock! This is unreal! There is no way that Andrew Jackson the owner of AJ Records just offered me a record deal!

The shock is probably evident on my face, as he chuckles, "Well? Is that a yes then?" I snap back into reality before squealing, "Oh My God! YESSS! Definitely! Thank you so much!"

This is unbelievable! I can't help the huge smile that spreads across my face as Jase stands and pulls me up with him. He leans down and kisses me before shouting, "I knew you could do it, Ris!" He picks me up and twirls me around the room. I let out a laugh going along with it. If I didn't know any better I'd think that it was Jase that had gotten the record deal and not me.

I gaze at Jase as he pulls me closer, hugging me close to his chest. Suddenly a phone rings loudly causing us to jump apart. In all the excitement I had kind of forgotten that the record label owner himself was sitting just a few feet away from us. Andrew stands up, excusing himself with a smile and heads into the hall to take the call.

"So, where were we?" Jase says playfully as we resume our previous stance. I giggle and he continues in a low warm voice, "Rissa, I am so so proud of you. You are my superstar, my princess. Hmm, my pop princess?" That's a new one. Pop princess, I don't know why but I think I like it. I love how crazy and random he can be at times! "Sure Jase, I'll be your pop princess!" I giggle.

"I love that sound," he whispers. Our faces mere inches apart. "What sound?" I ask. He smile widens ever so slightly, "I love your laugh. I love how amazing, talented and beautiful you are. And most of all I love you, Ris!"

"I love you too Jase, so so much!" I say and close the space between us. Our kiss is slow but full of passion. I used to think that those imaginary 'sparks' and 'fireworks' were just in the movies but Jase made me believe and right now I feel all those fireworks and sparks all over again!

We pull away out of breath just as Andrew comes back into the room with an apologetic expression in his face. "Hey guys, I'm so sorry to just leave like this but there seems to be a problem down at the studio. I'll be in town for a little while so I'll see when I can come by," AJ says. "No worries dude. Duty calls, we get it,"replies Jason."I'll drop by soon again, don't worry. Plus I have to come see my newest star! Oh that reminds me, Rissa I'll try to get a contract done as soon as possible and then we can discuss things next time." I nod in reply as the cousins embrace and we all say our goodbyes.

It's been a couple of hours since AJ left and I'm still in a daze from what happened earlier. Jase and I are lying on the bed, cuddling while watching a movie that Jase picked out. Well honestly, it's more like he's watching while I'm lost in thought.

My mind keeps on wandering to all the possibilities of the future ,the future that I'd only ever dreamt of, the future in which I'm a singer. All the people I'll hopefully be inspiring, the songs I'll be recording, the albums I'll release and maybe even an award or two - hmm then I'll need a speech and I'll have to thank AJ, my parents, Justin, Kyle, Lexi, Alyssa and obviously Ja- SHIT!!

I can't believe I forgot! I'm such an idiot! If it wasn't for Jase then none of this would have happened. It's all thanks to him and I haven't even thanked him yet. I reach for the remote pausing the movie which causes Jase to turn to me with a look of concern gracing his features.

"What's wrong?" he questions me so lovingly. He is so caring, I just love him so much! I grab his palm entangling our fingers , while my other hand reaches out and I cup his cheek gently. I rub my thumb across his cheek slowly and he sighs leaning into my hand. His eyes close slowly after shooting me one of his signature smiles that I love so much.

"Thank you so so much Jason,"I say softly. He opens his eyes and looks at me with a questioning gaze. "For what?"he questions. "AJ? The record deal? It all happened because of you!" He squeezes his eyes shut groaning softly before reopening them, "Rissaaaaa"

I look down , letting my hand drop from his cheek. I don't know why but I am suddenly feeling shy. He squeezes my hand pulling me out of my thoughts. At the same time his free hand lifts my chin up making me look into his eyes. The same hazel brown eyes that made me fall for him all those years ago.

"I know this girl. She's really smart, beautiful and talented. She has this amazing voice and can sing like there's no tomorrow," he starts of softly and I can't help the smile that stretches across my face at his choice of words as he continues. "Rissa, that girl is you, I did nothing. I just showed one person how talented my gorgeous girlfriend is."

I can't help but scoff at this. "Yeah , with that one person being AJ!" I see the determined glint in his eye when he replies, "Well, I wasn't the one who impressed him and got signed now was I? Please don't think that you just got this because you're my girlfriend or because I know him. You know that AJ only signs the best and who he believes is either really talented or shows alot of promise and you, my pop princess, are so so talented not just in singing but in everything you do. You are going to rock!" What do I say to that? "Well, um, still - Jase thank you. I love you not just for this but for everything. I don't know where I'd be without your support and encouragement. What you did means so much to me! I don't know how I'll ever be able to thank you enough , but I guess I could start with this..."

I lean in and kiss him. Jase returns the kiss, taking control and deepening it. I move so that I'm straddling him and I hook my arms around his neck as his arms wrap around my waist drawing me closer.

In a matter of minutes our heartfelt conversation has turned into a full on make-out session. Its going to be a long night but here with Jase, there's no place I'd rather be.
