Chapter 14 - Jessica And Moral Support

Jase's POV

It's been 5 days...

5 days of me twisting and turning on the couch being unable to sleep because I can't bare to sleep in our room without her. 5 days of trying again and again to call her. 5 days of my guilty conscience and regret eating me up.

I've been up and about since 5 this morning, I couldn't sleep again last night and after about 2 restless hours of sleep I had decided to just get up and start my day.

Right now I'm sitting on the sofa, staring at the black screen of the TV as my thought run wild. I wonder where she is? I hope she's doing okay. Lexi told me that Rissa sends them a message everyday to say that she's safe, wherever she is.

Just then my phone rings and I jump and grab it hoping that maybe. Just maybe it's her, but just like the last 39 times in these past few days its not.

It's my cousin Jessica.

"Hey Jess," I say once I've answered her call. "Jasonnnnn! How are you bro?" she says. "I'm, uh, okay and you?" I say. I don't really want to get into the whole story now. It'll just make me feel worse. "Great now that I'm here! You've probably heard by now but I want to meet up one of these days!" Wait what? Where? "What do you mean meet up? You're here?" I ask shocked!

"Didn't Rissa tell you? I mean I just saw her yesterday at the mall. I thought she would've told you by now,"she says.

SHE SAW RISSA!

"Jess did you say that you saw Rissa at the mall yesterday?" I ask wanting to be sure. "Yeah,she was with this really cute guy. Are you okay? You sound wierd."

Really cute guy? What was she doing at the mall with some guy?

"I'm fine now. Just, uh, Jess do you know who the guy was?" I ask. "Yeah, Um Hayden was he's name, I think," she replies.

Hayden! Of course, she would be at his place! They've always been close!

"Thank you so so much, Jess! You have no idea what you've done for me,"I say gratefully. I finally know where my princess is.

" Jason, what's going on? Why did you ask all those questions? Is everything okay between you and Rissa?" she questions concerned. I sigh and I begin to tell her what happened.

"She's staying at that Hayden's place then isn't she? And you're going to go over there now that youve figured it out,"she states once I'm finished."You know me so well, Jess," is all I say.

"I'm coming with you," she says. "What? Jess you don't have to come with me!" I say.

"I know you Jason Carter! And I know that you need backup for this so you better get your ass down here and pick me up on your way to whereever his house is!" she says firmly. And that is why I love my cousin so much!

"Yes Ma'am," I say feeling happier then I've felt since Friday. I'm finally going to see my princess!

I just picked up Jess and I'm on my way to Hayden's place. It's been so long since I've been here. My mind keep flashing back to Friday and all the things that were said. I messed up so badly and I really wish that I could take back everything but unfortunately time machines don't exist yet.

What's Rissa going to do once I get there? Will she even talk to me?

I don't know what to think and as much as I'm trying to figure out what to say when I get there, I really can't come up with anything that sounds right. Jess is telling me to just be honest with her and tell her the whole story but what if that does not work? What if it's not enough?

I turn right and see his house at the end of the road. As I pull into his driveway I know that its now or never. I got my chance to make things right and I can't mess this up.

I look through the gate and I see only one car. Only Rissa's car. Did they both go out somewhere again? I mean they've always been close but she's been staying alone with him for 5 days.

I can't help where my mind is taking me. No. Rissa wouldn't do that to me.
As long as we haven't broken up yet I know that she wouldn't do anything with another.

"So, do you have your plan?" Jessica asks, cutting through my thoughts. "Uh, not really but I think I can just wing it. I know what I want to say just not how I'm going to say it," I reply.

I close up my windows and lock the car once we're both out when another car pulls into the driveway right in front of us. Hayden.

"Jason? What are you doing here?" he says shocked as he gets out of the car. "Hey man, I, uh, I came to see Rissa. Jess told me that she saw her with you and I figured that she must have been staying at your place," I explain.

"Jessica is here" he says as he finally looks past me and sees my cousin. "Hey Hayden," she says with a wave and a giggle. Wait, my cousin just giggled. She so likes him!

"So can I see her?" I ask getting a little impatient. I'm so close to her yet I can't see her as yet and it's tearing me up inside.

"Jason, I'm going to be really honest with you. Rissa has been a mess since your fight last Friday. I had to force her out of the house yesterday so that she could get some actual human contact besides me. As far as I can see, she can't sleep and she's hardly eating as well,"he sighs. My poor baby.

I run my fingers through my hair, feeling anxious. This is all my fault!
"I'm not saying this to make you feel guilty. I'm saying this because you need to know what this fight has done to Rissa. I take her as a baby sister, Jason, and I will do anything for her. I know that you love her and that you'll are meant for each other and that's the only reason why I'm not beating your ass and why I'm letting you through that door to talk to her. The next time you say anything like that to her again, you're going to have me to deal with. And it's not just going to me some measly punch,"he says firmly.

I understand completely amd I nod in agreement. Hayden then leads us towards the house and my heart starts beating faster as he opens the door and he and Jess step inside.
