"You ready?" Jungkook asks, pulling on his thick jacket as winter is just around the corner, already being the beginning weeks of December. He watches as Jin shakes his head happily, slipping on his own jacket, the one that Jungkook had bought for him not long ago for the season.

They decided to go see Jin's mom that same weekend since Jungkook didn't have to work and throughout the rest of the week, Jin was very excited. He was finally going to see his mom after a month and he couldn't wait. His behavior understandable as he practically drags Jungkook downstairs and to his car outside.

"Careful Jin, there's still a little bit of frost on the ground," he says softly, smiling at him. He's never seen Jin this happy and it makes him happy knowing that he helped him feel this way. He hopes that today turns out to be a good day.

They get inside his car and he turns it on, sitting in park for a little while so his car can heat up. He has a feeling this winter is going to be harsh since it's been getting so cold so early in the month. There's already a chance for a snow storm later today—they'd rather get snowed in at his mom's than not see her however.

Jin bounces in his seat, his smile never leaving his face. He's looking out the window the whole ride there and upon arriving to his neighborhood, he recognizes a few people outside. It's so weird seeing them after a while since he's never really been away from home for too long.

They pull up into his driveway and Jin doesn't wait for Jungkook to shut the car off as he gets out of the car and hurries up to the front door. He's too excited that he doesn't notice how alone the house looks, however Jungkook does.

"Jin, wait," he says but Jin is already running into the house.

"Ma!" He yells out, but the house seems cold and lifeless. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion and walks into the kitchen, dark and quiet. He gulps and hurries down the hallway and into his mom's room, pushing all negative thoughts away even though inside, he knows.

He pushes open the door and sees his mother's bed unmade with her nowhere to be found. Jungkook walks in as Jin falls to his knees next to the bed, his heart tightening as he clutches onto the bedsheets. He kneels down next to him and hugs him.

"We can try going to the hospital to see if she's there," Jungkook offers, his voice scratchy as he tries to control his own emotions. It's sad how he was so upbeat only moments ago and now, his mood matches the ambience of the house, gloomy.

Jin quietly nods and with the help of Jungkook, they walk out and head to the hospital. Luckily, it isn't very far so they get there pretty quickly, but it didn't make the ride there any less nerve wracking.

Jin walks in and up to the receptionist, who's currently talking on the phone. He waits until she's done with the call to talk to her.

"Excuse me, I was wondering if there is a Kim Soo Jung admitted here?" He asks, shakily. She tells him to wait as she looks up his mom's name on the computer. All the while, Jin is tapping his fingers on the spotless counter, his eyes wandering around the white waiting room. Jungkook stands close behind him and looks around as well, not many people sitting on the small sofas and chairs. Only a man and his small daughter are waiting there.

"It appears that there was a woman admitted here by that name not long ago," she starts, eyeing the screen that displayed her file. Jin stands up straight and too quickly, he gets his hopes up.

"But she passed away a few days ago."

     Jin pauses. "W-what?"

He shakes his head and starts taking small steps backwards, Jungkook taking him into his arms as Jin breaks down. The lady looks at him sympathetically.
