Rowan^^
Liam's POV
After the movie, we decide to just sit in the living room and chill. Rowan says there isn't really much to do in his house because his parents are pretty strict on productivity and doing well. Similar to Michael's parents, which I can see why, since they live very near to each other and the neighbourhood is basically the same.
"What's it like to have two sisters?" I ask curiously. Rowan chuckles for a moment.
"At times it's hell. Having two sisters can be pretty intense. There's been arguments here and there growing up, but as we grew older I didn't see them as much since they were both off studying a lot. Both of them were going to be doctors." He pauses, as if reminiscing his childhood, "but I don't think I would give it up for the world. They helped me a lot, and I know I'd be very different today without them."
"That's really sweet. I kind of wish I had a sibling, but at the same time I wonder how different everything would have been? If my parents would have pulled through if they had another child, or would things be similar?"
"I'm not sure how I picture you with a sibling. You don't seem like the type to argue with anyone." Rowan comments
"Uh, yeah. I'm not a fan of them. I hate conflict. It never seems to lead to anything good."
"Well, I can see where you're coming from, but I see conflict as a learning experience? You see where you went wrong and what you could have done better next time."
"That's interesting, never thought about it that way."
"You know, this one time when I was really little my sisters tried to dress me up like one of their dolls. I hated it so much but they wouldn't let me go. When our parents found out they were so mad that their only son was all dolled up like some barbie," Rowan chuckles, "I can look back on it now and laugh, but at the time I despised it. I was so embarrassed to be seen like that."
I let out a small laugh, trying to imagine a mini Rowan all dolled up in a frilly dress and some makeup. "Sounds like you had a pretty adventurous childhood."
"Not quite. When I was younger I had a lot of fun. I was allowed to play basketball on a team and run outside with my friends, but slowly my parents started restricting me to my studies. They hired tutors for almost all my subjects in school, insisting that I must always be at the top of my class. I didn't have much free time after that, and I would get punished if I dropped lower than a 95 in class."
"What? But a 95 is already kind of difficult. In all your classes? Wow." I murmur. "My parents- my mum and step-dad didn't really hold many expectations of me. To be honest, I think their main thing was just to get me to make friends. I was a shy kid."
"Yeah? You were a little shy when I met you, but I don't blame you."
"Well, you were kind of intimidating-" Oh no, why did I say that? That's so rude! He's going to end our friendship here and-
"Oh? Why so?" He asks, eyes shining with amusement.
"Uh, sorry sorry. That was really rude of me and I wasn't thinking before I said it-"
"Liam, it's fine. I'm just curious why."
"Well- well you're a lot taller than me. I think this was me just being a bit nervous because I don't socialize much. Michael was also really intimidating when I first met him."
"That's cute." Rowan chuckles. I let out a huff. Cute. He calls me cute.
