Let The Games Begin - Part 3The world rushes by in a blur and I know that pain is coming. It all goes by fast, yet slow in a way......almost as if it is suspended.
Then impact.
"Oof."
I let out a grunt as I land hard on the ground, being thrown out from my tube.
I look around me at the unfamiliar landscape, taking the new sight in.
All there is are trees.
Woods that go on for what seems like forever.
Alright Kyla, all you got to do is get to the forest's clearing.
Can't be that hard, right?
Pushing myself up from the ground, I brush myself off and grab my weapon that was a hurled a few feet away from me.
That's when I notice something laying next to it.
It was an envelope.
I open up the envelope to find a letter on the inside addressed to me.
Kyla,
Congratulations! You've made it! It is my honor to be representing you along with Asher and Daniel. I've been keeping tab on you as well as the two others selected, and have been more than pleasantly surprised with you all..... especially you.
Being the Lionheart panel director is a true blessing, and does come with some given perks. If you follow the map on the back of this letter, you will find a Lionheart refuge for you and your fellow comrades to stay at. It is stocked with food to last you throughout your time there, and also may have a couple more things to help you out along the way. I have high expectations for you, Kyla. I wish you all the best of luck...... us Lionhearts are counting on you!Yours truly, Mr. Harrison Rafferty
I didn't know whether to be disgusted or relieved.
Harrison Rafferty.......writing to me?
Look, it's no secret to anyone that I hate the guy.....but there is no way anyone in their right mind would pass up the gift of shelter and food.
I turn the letter around in my hands to look at the map laid out across the back.
The shelter is marked off with an big X, located a couple miles down East near a secluded lake.
If I meet up with Asher first, then we can head there together—
Wait.....
What happens if he got a map too?
Could he be heading there now?
No.....he would wait for me.....to go together.
He wouldn't—
*BEEP*
I nearly jumped out of my boots at the sound sirens blaring in every direction.
