Lights, Camera, Action! - Part 1

Today is the day.

And I couldn't be any less prepared for what is about to happen.

As if sensing my distress, I feel a hand slip into mine and give it a firm but comforting squeeze.

I look over at my brother in the seat next to me and give him a small smile. "How are you doing, kid?"

He raises a brow, with a soft laugh. "I should be asking you that question."

"I'm.....better than expected."

No, you're not.

He nods. Though his expression is placid, I see a flicker of uncertainty behind his eyes. "That's good to hear."

I can feel my chest tighten.

"Danny—"

"Ky......" he shakes his head with shut eyes, cutting me off before I could even finish, "I'm fine."

I give him a taut nod, not wanting to push the issue.

I glance briefly at Asher sitting across from me.

I've barely spoken to him in the last few days since the introduction party.

I still don't understand what came over him...

I always knew Asher had his feelings about Untouchables, which are understandably so... But to berate Kaiden like that? To threaten him like that?

It was like he became a different person, someone I didn't recognize at all to be the Asher I knew and loved.

It made me sick to my stomach.

He turns his head and catches my eye, as if sensing my stare. Quickly, I look away and avert my gaze to the passing landscape out the window.

"Ms. Reyes, Mr. Bennet, we're here." the car driver glances at us through his rear view mirror.

The car approaches a huge, grey warehouse, the look of one of those buildings you'd only find in a horror movie. I shiver in my seat.

He turns the car down a narrow path and puts it in park in front of a gated entrance, which leads down the side of the building. Through the tinted windows, I can blearily make out the two guards standing watch along with a tiny woman dressed very professionally.

One of the security guards strides over and opens the car door for us to get out.

"Hello! How are my two favorite contestants!" the woman walks up to us almost too enthusiastically. It takes me a few seconds before making her out to be the same lady from two days ago.

"I don't think we formally had a chance to introduce ourselves." she grins, clutching a clipboard full of documents to her chest, "I'm Vivienne. I work for the Lionheart's panel director, Mr. Harrison Rafferty."
