Round One - Part 2

In all honesty.....I actually slept pretty good last night.

You wouldn't necessarily think that to be the case considering the circumstances and the activities we were all currently taking place in.

But coming into this, I prepared myself to be sleeping out in the woods.

Bugs crawling on me.....freezing cold.....no shelter......and scarce findings of any food or water.

So was I happy I found this place?

Abso-fucking-lutely.

Did that mean I wasn't still shitting my pants about today?

Not the least bit in hell.

Pushing myself from out of the bed, I groggily make my way to the kitchen, not having eaten for a day.

"Good morning." Pax chuckles, taking in my disheveled appearance.

He's filling water into a mug at the kitchen counter.

I take a seat at the table across from him, plopping down heavily.

"What time is it?" I ask, rubbing my eyes.

"The sun is just starting to rise, so it should be around 6:00 am right now."

"Ughh." I groan dropping my head on the table, "I could kill for a coffee right now."

"Here." he says, pushing over the mug he was concocting in front of me, "It's not coffee but it should help make you feel a little more awake."

I raise an eyebrow, looking down at the greenish, brown water.

"Thanks but....um.....what exactly is it?" I ask.

"It's called Matcha tea. My mom used to make it for me when I was little." he smiles, "It's a type of green tea made by the Camellia sinensis plant after steaming, drying and grinding the leaves into a powder."

My eyebrows shoot up. "And you did all of this? This morning?"

"I've always been an early bird." he shrugs, "With everything going on, I just wanted to try and make it all little more.....normal. You know, before today."

I give him a small, sincere smile. "Thanks Pax, you didn't have to go through all—"

"Good, you guys are up." Arabella walks in, cutting me short.

"Morning to you too." I mumble underneath my breath with a huff.

She walks over to the counter and grabs one of the mugs that Pax made, before plopping down in the seat across from us.

"How long have you guys been—"

She nearly spits the tea out of her mouth after taking a sip.

"What in the world is this?"

"It's Matcha tea." I reply, taking a sip of my own, "Pax made it for us, isn't that right?"
