Round Three - Part 1There's a eerie silence that consumes the room, everyone overwhelmed in their own thoughts.
Arabella throws her hands up in the air, breaking the muted tension. "Even if we get out of here, where the hell are we going to go?"
The question hangs in the air unanswered. After a long moment, Kaiden clears his throat at the back of the room.
"I know a place." he speaks up, his eyes flicking over to meet mine, "It's up north in town. I stayed there before coming here with Reyes."
I raise an eyebrow at him. "The casino?"
He nods his head at me, turning to see what the others think.
"What is the architectural structure of it?" Pax asks.
"It's a building, so it's a couple stories high." Kaiden answers, "It was an old speakeasy so the building itself is made out of mostly concrete and metal. I know the whole place inside out."
Asher, not so subtly, huffs out a puff of air through closed lips.
"Well that should make us feel better." he mumbles sarcastically under his breath.
Kaiden's face twists with anger as he glares back at him. "You got a better idea?"
"Unfortunately, no." Asher turns on him quick with a snarl, "But if it was up to me it wouldn't involve you."
I can feel Kaiden's muscles tense at his words, his face reddening with rage. "Listen you——"
I pull at my hair, my head feeling as though it's about to erupt into a trillion pieces.
"CAN YOU TWO PLEASE NOT DO THIS RIGHT NOW?!" I throw my arms up and explode on them, "I get it, okay?! You two don't like each other. But for fucks sake this is not the time to start a hissy fit like two teenage girls because you two can't grow up and work through your problems!"
The room goes completely quiet. Asher and Kaiden look like two deers in headlights, while the others look taken aback, impressed even. I let out a long, shuddering sigh as I try to catch my breath and regain my composure.
"Okay, now that we've gotten that out of the way......" Arabella chuckles as she shakes her head and recrosses her arms, "Lets move on to the question of how the hell we're going to get out of here?"
Another board creaks from above.
"Well if I'm right, this seems like a type of sulfuric acid, which means that the only material that can withstand it for a long enough period of time would be a type of stainless steel—"
"Stainless steel? We're in a goddamn cabin for christ sake!" Arabella throws up her hands up, "Everything around us is wood!"
Asher nods his head in a agreement. "All we have is a couple knives and forks, we'll never find anything large enough here to cover us. And even if we do, there's no way we'll be able to carry it all the way into town."
A terrible silence falls over the others, making my limbs lock up and my heart pound. Finally, Ace stands up from his chair.
