Infected - Part 3

The next few days go by pretty slowly.

A lot of bed rest, pampering, and sitting around doing nothing can really take a toll on a person.

I'm joking, I'm joking.

But in all seriousness, it's been very stressful to say the least.

With the week going by fast and Round 3 looming across the horizon, you could understandably say everyone's been on their toes.

Pax has been hard at work since we've found out the news of my limited time. He has me on complete bed rest, insisting that the less things I'm doing will help prolong the time that I have left.

Yeah, it kind of sucks that I'm bound to my bed for what might be my last days but I can't fault him. He's really been working so hard and I truly appreciate him so much for it.  Though, I am starting to get kind of worried about him.  He's been running on little to no food or sleep, completely consumed in his testing and studies.

Trust me, I've been trying to convince the kid to take a break but it's useless.

He's been trying out a lot of experiments on me and has even done a few test trials so far.

I'm not even lying when I say that I have about twenty needle marks in my arm from him taking bloodwork.

Nothing has seemed to work out so far, and it's been hard, given the place we're in and the little supplies we have to work with. But even with all the cards stacked against us, the kid somehow still manages to keep going, which gives me hope.

The others have kind of been scattered all over the place.

Asher has been by my side the whole time. And when I say the whole time, I mean the whole damn time.  He's been quick to help out, making sure that I'm always feeling comfortable and even through the rough times is there to hold my hair back when I'm puking my guts out.

He's been a godsend.

Arabella on the other hand has been pretty distant. She occupies herself with going out on food runs most of the time as well as working out with Ace. She only stops by my room when necessary. I still haven't had the chance to talk to her, so there's a lot of unanswered tension between the two of us. It's all pretty awkward if you ask me.

Ace really has been great. These last couple of days he's been all over the place with everyone. He's kind of like the dad of the group; Always there to keep everyone in line and screw our heads on straight. He's been trying hard to cool the group down and keep the peace, and without him, we'd honestly probably all be chickens running around with our heads off.

And last but not least there's Kaiden.

Compared to the others, he's been really..... weird?

He hasn't really interacted with much of anyone these last couple of days and has kept to himself a lot more so than usual.

He's been here and there, every now and then stopping in to see how I'm doing, while other times absolutely nowhere to be found.

He's especially been really quiet with me.

For as long as I've known him, I've never found him hard to talk to or hold a conversation with.
