" Poor boy, how many children have to be left here, how many more? " The chubby lady at the receptionist desk sighed out as she sipped on her coffee, the other two ladies nodded their heads, shaking it afterwards in disbelief.
Just a two year old Korean boy, left in a Japanese adoption house, poor guy, not only would he have a hard time communicating but also a very hard time finding parents.
It was hard to find parents who would dare adopt someone in Japan, and now let alone a Korean boy, who was left by his mother at such an early age. Who knew what his heritage beheld, who knew what he was capable of.
" I need someone who can lead on my job, someone who can actually take responsibility for my legacy. Ugh, Akira is a disappointment! " A Japanese guy in his forties let out a smoke from his chapped lips as the other two shook their heads around the mahogany table.
" Akira is still young, but he is showing no signs of obedience. He won't be suitable. What do you think you will do, Ishikawa? " The older man took a gulp of his whiskey, playing with the ice in the glass.
" Do you think of anyone? Anyone who is suitable. Lately I have been thinking of adopting a son! " Ishikawa smiled, waiting for the others' response.
" I don't know, Ishikawa, I don't trust anyone's blood. " The other chubbier man dressed in a grey suit spoke up, twirling the black pen in his thick fingers.
" I don't care, as long as he will be good, I won't have a problem, I will raise him as my won son, I will keep his name, I want someone who will be trustworthy and loyal to me. " Ishikawa hung his head as he let the cigarette burn in the ashtray.
" Let's visit children's houses then! " The older one smiled, nodding to Ishikawa. If a true blood was not cooperating and obeying, then even a foreign blood would become one with the family. Just like in old Rome, a lot of Cesars were chosen like that.
The next morning was more chilly than the other one, giving the men deeper thoughts about their decision, or maybe the universe was warning them, the one who they would take with them, was as cold as this day. A little chill but still warm, as the sun gave the men a little warmth.
The whole adaption house was closed that day, the children were told to play in the big hall, they could do whatever they wanted, this making the children really showcase their character. Little Yeosang sat there on the window shelf and looked out of the window, examining the scenery infront of him. Other children didn't interest him, nor the colorful toys that were sprawled out on the floor. He wanted peace and silence. He wanted to be with himself.
" After you sir! " The guards signed Ishikawa to take the first steps towards the entrance. His proud steps echoed in the hallway, the receptionist threw her head up, shivering as she realised the people who had entered the place.
She quickly wobbled out, bowing perfectly as she signed with her hands towards the other end of the building, following after him like an obedient dog.
" Is there anyone special here? "
The receptionist started to explain about all the children that resided there, all the special boys who were gifted with special skills or the ones who acted very mature and wise for their age. But Ishikawa showed no signs of interest, all these children already had developed characters and a cup already full can't be filled again.
" Are there any new ones, anyone who is too little or too closed out? " Ishikawa halted at once, taking out his cigar and smoking it, even though a sign said that it was forbidden in the building, right behind him.
" Well! I really didn't want to talk about him but well he best matched your description. He was taken in just last week, but he is not Japanese, he doesn't speak a word and never communicates with other kids, he is too weird for your taste mister, but I will still show you if you insist! " The receptionist bit on her lip, scarred for her life.
" Please! " Ishikawa let the woman first, following behind. A child, who didn't speak much, didn't interest much with the surrounding. A Korean boy who didn't speak a single word in Japanese. He was just perfect, a almost empty cup.
When the men and the receptionist entered the room, all the kids were still playing, letting out shrieks and laughs here and there, but little Yeosang was just seated there, doing nothing but looking out of the window, expressionless and silent just like a coffin.
" Please bring him in a private room. I would like to see him up close. " Ishikawa smiled at the woman, and for a second she was startled, never in her life she would guess that such a stiff man would have such a warm and friendly smile. Did I mention he was one of the heads in Yakuza? All of this was perfectly known to the lady.
When she went up to Yeosang, he just nodded, showing first signs of carelessness and obedience at such a level where if you had told him to jump off a bridge, he would have, maybe.
" Yeosang, this is mister Ishikawa, do as he says, alright darling? " The lady tried very hard to let the boy know of his surroundings but every try ended up of him just looking down on his feet, unresponsive.
" I am not Ishikawa anymore, Yeosang, I am your father now! Call me father, dear boy! " Ishikawa chuckled as the other men followed suit, Yeosang's head flew up as he heard the Japanese word for dad, that was something he had heard when a young girl around his age was pulling her dad to a cotton candy stand.
" That's right! Fa-ther! " ishikawa repeated. Yeosang smiled, he actually smiled to the man, he was happy. He liked this man who called himself father, was he his father? He hoped so! He was so cool.
" Fa-ther! " He had repeated, giving the men a shy smile as everyone cheered quietly.
