I slipped on my gym clothes and put my other clothes in the locker. I left the locker room and waited for the teacher to take attendance. I was pretty much alone in this class. No Charlie, Andrew, Molly. They were all in different groups, doing football (Andrew), dance (Molly), or archery (Charlie). I was in a normal class, doing things like dodgeball, field hockey, soccer, basketball, and so on. Today just so happened to be volleyball.
I shyly waited to be put on a team when arms wrapped around my waist from behind and lifted me off the ground. I yelped in surprise and flailed around. Whoever it was chuckled and put me back down, but didn't remove his arms. "Hey there babydoll, miss me?" Daniel rested his chin on the top of my head.
"Nope. Not at all actually." I smirked and looked up at his pouting face. "Relax, I'm kidding."
A smile returned to his face.
"Storm, team A. Summers, team B." Coach called out to us.
Daniel spin me around. "Looks like we're on opposing teams. Ready to get your ass whooped?" He smirked.
I gasped at him. "No way! I'm actually good at this game!"
"Well, I'll make a deal. If you win, take as long as you want to decide. But if I win, it's a definite 'Yes' to the date on Friday. Deal?"
I thought about it. I was pretty confident in this game so.... "... Deal!"
He winked, "Bring it on, sweetheart."
As we lined up on opposite sides, coach threw the ball into the air. We passed the ball back and fourth until someone dropped it. It was our serve; we got three points, then got out. It was Daniel's turn. He was good but so was I. I hit the ball to the other team and when they hit it back, I spiked it. "Hell yeah!" I shouted. Daniel laughed and shook his head.
-----
"I can't believe you won, jerk!" We laughed and headed to our next class.
"Hey, I warned you that you would lose." Daniel nudged my shoulder and chuckled. "Well, I'll definitely see you Friday then."
