Chapter Five - Awkward
Payton's P.O.V
"Ok class, lessons over," Mrs Jacobs clapped her small hands to get our attention, "Pack your things and get out. I've a meeting."
"What? Seriously, we've been talking for a whole 75 minutes."
"We haven't even started this project yet." I grumbled, putting my head on my professionally manicured hands.
"Well maybe if you weren't so interesting we would have started!" Tyler joked as I giggled.
"I'm so sorry, I'm just so fascinating. I can't help it!" I said sarcastically.
"Where's your next lesson?" He probed, during which he packed up his things.
"Maths 103." I replied.
"I'm next door, I'll walk you there."
I stood up, grabbed my things and walked out of the classroom with Tyler following closely behind me. My eyes spotted Finn, standing next to the water fountain surrounded by a whole lot of 'Barbie' looking girls. Their faces were caked in makeup, and it didn't even look like the right colour foundation. It was a sickingly Orange colour and her hair was a bright blonde with pink highlights.I looked away hastily. Tyler saw me looking over there so he turned to look too. He saw Finn and his face formed into a scowl. There was now a slight tension in the air. I started to feel extremely awkward as walked there in silence so I decided to break it.
"You know...You're nothing like your brother." I said, breaking the silence, hoping we'd talk like we did in our lesson.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Tyler questioned, raising his eyebrows. I looked behind me, back at Finn where his arm was slung over a girls shoulder. I turned around swiftly and looked back at Tyler. I didn't know what to say about Tyler. As soon as I realised I was probably zoned out for a few minutes, I responded.
"It's a good thing." He gave me a big smile. The awkward tension had lifted right out the roof and there was instead a light comforting silence.
"You're a whole lot more mature than Finn." I told him.
"Well I am older by 11 minutes." He chuckled.
After a few more steps, we arrived at our classes.
We were however very late but I didn't seem to care.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
He gave me a small nod and opened the bronze doorknob and walked in.
I walked into my lesson with a bright big smile. Mr Harrison trod over to me and stood there with a scowl set upon his face.
"Miss Grey, I'm happy that you're smiling to be in this Maths lesson but you're 7 minutes late. DETENTION!" Mr Harrison yelled. Mr Harrison had a tendency to spit when he talked and right now I had buckets of spit on me. Luckily, I had my huge glasses so his spit wasn't blinding me.
"Fucks sake." I groaned.
"DOUBLE DETENTION!" I was to tempted to reach up and wipe my forehead hurriedly but I figured I'd be in further trouble.
"What for?!"
"Swearing! We forbid swearing at this school. Now take your seat!" Mr Harrison roared fiercely.
"Yes sir." I muttered. I walked to the back of the class and saw a seat between Issy and Emily which I plopped my butt in. I took out a small handkerchief from my rucksack, took off my glasses and wiped my face disgustingly. Issy and Emily laughed at my spit-covered face.
Oh, how I love my best friends.
