I had an hour until I had to decide whether or not I was going to trust Steve. It's not an easy decision.

Pros to Steve:  he's friends with Sam, he represents America, he's old as fuck.

Cons to Steve: I barely know the guy, he's a fucking superhero (meaning he might attract attention to himself, therefore attracting attention to me too), he's old as fuck.

I feel like I should trust him. If not, I could just move somewhere else.

But then that means that I'll have to set up shop somewhere else and start brand new.

I walk over to my bed, flopping over. God, why is this so hard?

I stand back up, sighing loudly. Fuck it. I'm going to go. After all, knowing Sam, I'll send up seeing him sometime sooner or later. I grab my purse and walk towards the door before looking around the room. If there anything that I might need? I notice a shining on my bedroom dresser, noticing my mother's necklace. When she died, I found it amongst her belongings. I didn't want anyone to take it, so I stashed it in my pocket. I've had it ever since. I stick the jewelry into my purse before not looking back.

I'm going to be back, after all.

--

I walk into the park, the sound of children playing and dogs barking filling the air. It was nice, relaxing from the stress I've been in over the past month.

Sadly, that's not the reason I'm here.

I feel my feet start to drag as I walk closer to the bridge, noticing Steve already sitting there. Fuck- he is here. Maybe I can manage to slip out of here before he realizes that I'm here. As soon as I go to step back, his head swivels my way and a smile grows on his lips. "Emily, you decided to come. Come over here." I slowly walk over before sitting on the other side of the bench. "I understand you're probably scared. I don't blame you. I just want you to know that you can trust me." I let a small nod go before he smiles again. "So Emily's your real name?"

"Yep. Emily Blake." I say, sighing. "Let me guess, you want me to spill my whole life story?"

He smiles considerately before nodding. "Only the bits you're willing to share. Maybe how you realized you knew you had powers?"

"Oh fun story. Well. My boyfriend - sorry, ex-boyfriend - had decided to start our anniversary celebration early. And he invited the next door neighbor." Steve looks a little confused before I let out a small laugh. "He cheated on me." His face changes instantly before going neutral. "Well, let's just say. Everything changed then. I threw a ball of light at his head."

He chuckles for a moment before saying, "He deserved that. He sounds like a real piece of scum."

"For sure. Well, after that I got caught in a store robbery and ended up taking down the robbers. I may or may not have let my powers slip." I look away for a moment before continuing. "That's when I moved cross country."

"Why were you in that Hydra base?" Steve says, placing a hand on my knee. He's trying to comfort me.

"A couple men came into the diner one late night and were talking. They worked for that criminal thing - Hydra, I guess - and were trying to be all sneaky and talking in Russian. They didn't know that I studied in Russian for a year and knew just about all that they were saying. I couldn't hear a lot of it, but I knew that they were hurting people and that they wanted to hurt more. So I decided to go in and try to stop them." I smile before poking him in the ribs. "I would have taken them down if you didn't try to stop me."

He smiles, rolling his eyes. "Hydra is a giant organization. There's bases all around the world. I - and my team - have been taking down bases for the past couple years. I was doing a mission with Bucky when I ran into you. You're lucky that I was the one who found you. Buck wouldn't have been so easy on you."

"He seems to like me, though."

"He does that. He was a girl magnet back in the day." Back in the day?

"He's a super soldier too?" I say, tilting my head. Damn, what else don't I know? "What, is Sam a robot too?"

"No, that's Buck too. But, no. Sam's just a bird."  We end up spending the next 45 minutes talking before he gets a text from someone. "Sorry Emily, gotta go. But listen, you're always welcome at Avengers tower. You'd love everyone. That way you don't feel alone in this big city alone. And if you ever have an issue, feel free to send me a text." He hands me his phone for me to put my number in. I type it in before handing it back to him. He smiles before someone pulls up in a dark car, him hopping into the passenger seat before it speeds off.

To be honest, Steve's pretty nice. It was nice to just talk to someone without worrying about them judging me about my life or my powers. I start to walk back to my apartment, thankfully the park wasn't too far from my building. I walked into the building, checking my mail but coming up empty. Not surprising, after all, nobody knows I live here. I walk towards my door before stopping.

It's open. I shut the door. I locked  the door. Why the FUCK is it open? I take a step forward before stepping back. I'm getting real bad vibes from this. I should let someone know what's up. I take out my phone, looking at a text that I had just got from an unknown number. You're always welcome. It's Steve. I guess I should let him know what's up. Maybe it's just a simple robbery.

E - Hey steve, i think someones in my house

I get a text back almost instantly.

Steve - Wait Emily!

E - I'm going in.

I put my phone back into my pocket before opening the door all the way. I take a few steps inside before hearing beeping.

"Son of a bitch -" My voice is caught as I'm sent flying across the room and it all goes dark.

Hey guys! Things are ramping up!

QOTD: What's some of your favorite MCU quotes? I love "doth mother know you weareth her drapes" and pretty much everything that Tony says. :)

The song at the top is Vanilla Twilight by Owl City (yes they have other songs than Fireflies)
