*Emily's POV*
I gave my apologies to Steve, saying that I was just going to grab some water and calm down and for him to go back to sleep. He mumbled something about sleeping before he fell back into his slumber. Once Steve was asleep, it took a lot in order to keep him awake.
I threw on some shorts and shoes, tip-toeing out of the room and down the hall.
Asgard's in danger. I'm an Asgardian. As if I needed anymore pipe bombs in my life, I now have to deal with being Asgardian - even if it's just half.
I need to think about this. I got off the elevator on Thor's floor, only to hear snores coming through his door. I never thought he slept. I guess that's what keeps him kind of human - other than his pop tart addiction. (We still need to talk to him about that.)
I opened his door slightly, seeing him face down in bed, blanket halfway across his body. He sleeps like he eats, a mess. I notice Mjolnir sitting on his bedside table. Am I still worthy? Or was I just worthy in the moment? I hold my hand out, Mjolnir stirring and flying into my hand. Yep, still worthy.
Does this mean I'm as strong as Thor?
Oh fuck.
I shut Thor's door and hop on the elevator back to the roof, sighing in contentment when the warm breeze hit my skin. The roof's my safe spot. It's where I feel at peace, even at the worst times. I came here to play, to talk, to think. Practically anywhere. I walked to the edge and sat down, my feet hanging off the edge as I threw Mjolnir into the air and then catching it, the dream about Frigga repeating in my mind.
Asgard's in danger.
The thing with that is that I don't know how to fix it. Last time I checked, I'm down here on Earth. Asgard's who knows where. By the time I finally get there, Asgard could be in ruins. There's nothing I can do.
A little nagging voice in my head perks up, reminding me of what I've gone through in the past year. That I'd be a horrible Avenger if I let this go. I'd be a horrible person.
Even if I've never been there in person, Asgard is technically my home. Asgardians are my people. And if Frigga built up Asgard, that makes her the Queen. My Queen.
"You know, it confused me to high Hel to why Mjolnir was gone when I woke up. Then it hit me that you're worthy." I hear from behind me, seeing Thor dressed in a tight t-shirt and sweatpants. "What is going on, spark?" Thor says, sitting down on the edge with me.
"A weird dream." I said, looking back onto the city lights. He gives me an expectant look before beginning to poke my arm. I don't know if I should tell him. I don't want to worry him. He begins to poke harder, almost to the point where I can feel a bruise forming. "Fine, fine." He smiles before folding his arms in his lap. "It was about Asgard." His eyebrows furrow as I look away. "I talked to a woman."
"What was her name?" He says, a small frown on his face. "Emily, what was her name?"
"Frigga. Her name was Frigga." Thor stands up before beginning to pace on the roof. "She said she was your mother?" He nods before waving me on to continue. "She told me Asgard was in danger. She wanted me to find you and tell you. She wants us to return to Asgard as soon as possible."
Thor murmurs something to himself before stopping. "I will go in the morning."
"Frigga said for both of us to go." I said, standing up, Mjolnir still in my hand. If Frigga said for me to go, then there's a reason for me to go. We just don't know what yet.
"No, Emily. This is serious if Frigga is reaching out to me. I can't take you with us, it's too dangerous. You have friends here, family. Steve would kill me if something happened to you. How are you going to tell Steve that you're going to be leaving?"
"Thor, if Frigga is reaching out to me, there's a reason. She wants me to go. You don't want your mother mad at you now, don't you?" I tease, poking him with Mjolnir. "Now I'm going, I don't care what you say. Asgard is my home now. If something's threatening it, then I'm going to defend it. And when it comes to Steve, he'll just have to get over it. This is something I want to do. And if he doesn't agree, he'll just have to suck it up." He nods in defeat before I give him a pat on the shoulder. "When do you want to go?"
"Tomorrow afternoon. We can pack some materials and whatever else we need and leave around noon. I will call Heimdall then and we can go to Asgard. Agree?" Thor says, looking down at me. His eyes were dark, anger radiating off of him.
He's angry, rightfully so. We were starting to be happy again. I guess in our line of work, nothing is happy. A light catches our eye, seeing the sun beginning to rise between the buildings. "It's gorgeous, isn't it? The light. Frigga took me to Asgard in my dream. It was so golden. So beautiful. It honestly felt like my home, Thor. Like I belonged there. It felt as if I had finally found a place where I belonged and was welcome. I want to protect that. The beauty, the people, everything. I love Asgard already, Thor. I want to protect it."
"Well, let's protect it together, Lady Emily."
"Together."
