“This is so amazing” Meg squeals giddily. Her hands clasped in front of her chest as she moves her hip and make her way to the bar. Jasey follows her trail, keeping her hands to her side just to make sure she won’t accidently spill anyone’s drink. She scans the room, recognizing almost every face in the crowd. In the center of the dance floor is Trudy, the big-haired lady from the marketing department. She wears a tight dress and a pair of incredibly high heels. She shakes her hips seductively, winking on every man that is looking her way. She then proceeds to put her arms around Jimmy – the accountant – and dances close to him. His face is priceless, his cheeks are crimson red and his eyes went wide. Jasey laughs quietly at him, he dances awkwardly, keeping up with Trudy’s voluptuous movements.
Alex was pouting when he found out Jasey will spend the night at the bar.
“But I need some warmth” he stared at her like a child whose toy was taken away from him.
“You made me late” Jasey answered, rising her brow with a little smirk. Alex shrugged, “You enjoyed it”
He was sitting cross-legged on the bed, his hands on his feet, looking up at Jasey. She shrugged back, “Not an excuse”
“Can I come?” he asked
“No. You’ll get drunk and I'd have to carry your heavy smelly butt back to your place ”
Alex just stares at her quietly after that. Not having any more argument. He didn’t look satisfied at her answer though; he just didn’t want to get in a fight.
“If you’re the one who drunk? You’ll need me,” he said again eventually, following Jasey to the front door.
“Would I?” she laughs, “I have a lot of friends there, I am sure I’ll be fine. I’ll call you if I don’t have any choices left”
Alex nodded, “sure” he mumbled. He sent her off with a suspicious glance, not trusting her to go off alone.
“Drink?” Meg lightly pokes Jasey, snapping her out of the memory. She nods, accepting a glass of whatever liquor Meg gives her.
“What is this?” Jasey chokes on the first sip, Meg giggles evilly.
“Come on, finish it” she encourages her.
Jasey takes another sip, nearly chokes on the next gulp. It burnt her throat but she can feel goodness after the burning feeling. She gets a little lightheaded after she finishes the drink; she feels a hot rush on her cheeks.
“Let’s dance” Meg persuades her. Jasey refuses, feeling a bit dizzy. She slumps her head to the bar, playing with the little glass. Once again scanning the room.
Trudy has gone missing in the sea of people’s body trying to be as close as space can give to each other. The music picks up and the lightning went crazy, it was getting hotter and more and more people come to enjoy the night.
“Don’t you dance?” a deep voice startles Jasey, almost makes her fall over her stool.
“No” she answers, tilting her head to see the owner of the voice. Matt stands over her, grinning with his hands inside his pockets.
“Do you want another drink?” he takes the seat next to Jasey.
“Sure” she smiles although she doesn’t feel like drinking again.
Alex rolls over his bed, feeling extremely bored. Everyone’s busy tonight. Jack’s having a family dinner, which is welcome for Alex to join, but Alex doesn’t feel like sitting with the 'crazy' family. Rian spends the night with Cassadee and Zack is going somewhere to take pictures. Jasey ditches him for an office party, seriously, what fun can she gets from that kind of party? Surely not as much fun as she can get if she’s with him. He grins at the thought.
Alex kicks the blanket off him before stands up and stretches up. Groaning as his bones cracking. He really needs to start having some exercises; he notes in his head that he would ask Zack to help him with that. He picks his phone and walks lazily to the living room, turning the TV on and slumps down on the couch. Yawning several times, clicking the remote, trying to find a descend show to watch; He flips through the channel before settling to a batman movie, his inner geek kicks in. Alex’s eyes lit up at the movie.
Halfway through the movie, his phone vibrates, making a noisy beeping sound.
"Hello?"
"ALEX! How are you doing? You are not sick are you? I hope you're not. Anyway, I'm having so much fun here and everyone's drunk and I" a hiccup comes along, "I don't think I'm clear for driving. I'm not asking you for a favor, I know you're busy. I'm just asking you to take care of my dog if I crash tonight since" another hiccup cuts the sentence, "since I feel so dizzy and oh this is so fun! The room is spinning. Am I bothering you? I am sorry if I do but...." and then there's a long silence.
Alex looks at his phone surprised, did Jasey just...drunk-call him?
Alex rings her phone again, "Jasey?"
"Oh hi, Alex! How are you?"
"Where are you right now?"
"I'm in the bar at 5th avenue. Oh I feel so sick" she mumbles and a loud cheering voice came out of the phone.
Alex grabs his jacket and keys with a rush; Jasey tends to need others closeness when she's drunk and he doesn't want her to snuggle to someone else. Alex cursed to himself; he is not supposed to feel that way. It's supposed to be an easy relationship and in an easy relationship, he shouldn't be jealous by whatever she does, he can’t be panicked by the thought of Jasey curling up to someone else. But the thought makes him run towards his car. He curses again.
The bar is fully packed with human body, but Alex can easily spotted Jasey. She’s sitting on the couch; snuggling to some man he doesn’t know. He practically shoves people that get in his way, heading towards Jasey with a mind full of clouds. He doesn’t like seeing another man touching Jasey that way, but at the same time, he knows he shouldn’t feel like that. He and Jasey are just friends after all. He couldn’t be like that.
“Excuse me” He clears his throat, looking at the man sharply. The man’s head snaps towards his direction, looking at him with suspicion. His arm is tight around Jasey as Jasey rests her head on his chest, clutching on his shirt. Her face red, and eyes closed. Alex feels the impulsiveness to shoves his hand off Jasey.
“I am going to take her home” Alex says again, his hands are itching, wanting to grab Jasey away from the brown-haired man.
“Who are you?” he asks, not letting go of Jasey.
“Her…friend” he answers bitterly, he doesn’t feel satisfied at the status he has. Jasey’s eyes fluttered open, she yawns once, her eyes fixed on Alex.
“Alex” she smiles sheepishly, letting go of her hold on Matt and raising her hands towards Alex like a little kid. Alex almost smiles at the sight while Matt raises his brow.
“Let’s go back,” Alex says, reaching towards Jasey. She nods, letting Alex holds her and gives her a piggyback ride.
Alex nods at the confused looking Matt before walking out of the door and sits Jasey on his car.
He drives to his house with mixed feelings. There is something different…something that he shouldn’t even think about. Something ‘taboo’.
