"Crap" Jasey muttered, "I'm late"

She rolls over from the bed kicking Alex in the process.

"Uh what?" he mutters sleepily

"Sorry, go back to sleep I'm late" Jasey whispers before putting on her clothes quickly and rather loudly. He sits down blinking several times, "breakfast?"

"No, no time. I'm going to get something later" she grabs her purse and run towards the door, "see ya"

She leaves Alex blinking several times, not sure what just happened.

"Crap" she curses silently while peeking into the meeting room. Matt's doing his presentation right now and there's no way she could get in without getting caught. Meg's eyes are on her, looking questioningly at her and she could just shrug at her. Jasey stares at the presentation room waiting for a chance to sneak in. Matt turns around several times, facing the screen with his back facing the table. Jasey tiptoed into the room, using the opportunity as best as she could.

She walks silently and pulls her seat as quiet as she can, good thing the employees in this office is not exactly the quiet type. Some are talking and that makes her more invincible. She sits down and pretends like she has been there since the very start of the meeting right before Matt turns around.

He looks at Jasey and raises his eyebrow; she looks back at him making her face as innocent as ever. She looks over to the screen, with a convincing look as if she knows what he’s talking about.

It's all because of Alex, she rambles in her head. He kept her up all night just because he doesn't have anything to do today. It's not fair. Well at least she thinks she dodges the bullet today...She’s been late several times; she just doesn’t want to get any warning or anything like that.

"What were you thinking?" Meg chuckles carrying her files in her right hand, increases her speed to keep up with Jasey’s pace.

"Well at least he didn't say anything,” she mutters lowly.

"It’s rare for you to be late for meetings"

"Yeah well, something came up last night" she shrugs, gulping her coffee. Meg stares at her with excited eyes, asking Jasey to tell her everything. Jasey shots her a bored look,

“See you later, Meg” she turns to the left leaving Meg at the end of the hall. Meg has to turn to the opposite direction of Jasey now. Meg grumbles unsatisfied at her reaction. She’s about to chase her down when she sees Matt at the other side, she then changes her direction abruptly. She wonders if Matt’s about to go to Jasey’s desk, silently wishing her luck.

“Hey, Boss” Jasey greets Matt indifferently, trying to hide the uneasiness she feels.Matt smiles viciously at her, holding an amused look.

“You are late today,” he states, grabbing a seat in front of her.

“Am I really?” she replies his smile, raising both her eyebrows.

“Oh come on now, do you know how many time I’ve been late when I was still new? I know all the tricks,” he laughs.

“Okay…I’m so sorry, the alarm didn’t work this morning and I have no idea it wouldn’t work! How could I know that, right?” she stutters, looking both embarrassed and frightened.

“Yeah that’s fine. Just, don’t do it again and I’m saying that because I am obligated to” he winks comically.

Jasey grins at him and nod, “sure thing, Boss”

Matt then stands up and turns to leave, but then he turns around and points his finger upright like he wants to say something. Jasey looks up from her pile of files, Matt’s running his fingers across his hair, “Um…the floor’s going to the bar together tomorrow, you wanna come?”

Jasey shrugs, “Yea, why not” she doesn’t have anything to do tomorrow anyway so it won’t stand in any plan’s way. Suddenly the thought of Alex pops into her head before she easily dismisses it, Alex would be fine. Besides, it’s not like he and her need to be together every other weekend.

Matt’s face lit up at her answer, then proceeds to say a quick ‘see ya’ and leaves her desk with too much excitement much to Jasey’s curiosity. Not that it’s weird he acts like that; Matt is basically a man with a child’s heart. Reminding Jasey to Jack. Except that Matt is really good at his job and he is pretty tough when he’s acting like a real boss. Jasey can’t picture Jack to be that kind of man, she stifled a low chuckle as she remembers how Jack likes to jump around and throws himself at his band mate’s arm, mostly Alex.

She stuffs the thoughts up as she faces back her files. She sighs, opening the paper with no energy. Bear with it, Jasey – she thought – it will be fun tomorrow when everyone goes to the bar. She can forget about the works she’d get next week. But first, she has to finish the job she has to do today.
