Stung [Part 19]

I knew he was planning something for quite some time. He was too quite and several times, I caught him thinking hard on something. Weirdly, i saw the same with Teresa too.

Okay believe me when I say this, I am NOT, i repeat, NOT jealous.

It's just there's something very fishy going on and I need somebody to back up my theory without getting judged on by 'jealous'.

But who?

"Penny for a thought? Although no pennies to be honest" Newt softly nudging me back to reality.

I sighed and considered telling Newt. He is my best friend after all and he's the most trustable person I could ever rely to, but why am I so worried that I could be wrong?

But I'll take my chances.

"Let's take a fresh air outside. I want to talk to you about something" I replied.

We walk outside until we settle in the shade of trees, away enough from the crowd to hear. "So... what's this thing you wanna tell me about, love? Why the sudden mystery?" He asked. 

I bit my lip and wrung my hands for a bit, unsure. He cocked his eyebrows, questioning what's taking me so long to talk about this thing.

"Alright, you know Thomas. I mean, you're close to him, right? Enough, at least. Do you think that blabbering mouth of his shutting up in the middle of his sentence just after we found the words followed by his sudden pale face is normal?" I paused. I see Newt's head starting to work, but not quite following up just yet. "Well after he came upstairs, I saw Teresa followed suit. I mean, that couldn't be a coincidence, right? I don't know why, but I feel like, no, I think I know that they're planning something. Or, they know something we don't"

"And this is not just because-" I cut him mid-sentence, "NO, it is NOT because I'm jealous. Oh for the love of god, NO" I continued.

"Okay, okay, fine" He crossed his arms on his chest. "Assuming that you're right, what do you think they're up to? What evidence can you bring to me about it?"

I wracked my brain for reasons but I can't come up with one. This isn't fair, I know my gut is right, there must be something-

"Hey, I get it. You want to get this over quickly, I also do. With evrythin' goin' on, I'm also sick of this place. But rest your assumptions, it's getting late. We should head back before the Grievers come again, alright love?" He lend me his hand. I sighed and put my hand in his, slowly walking back to the Homestead.

The last board is almost up to shut the Homestead for the night when Thomas tapped my shoulder softly, "Y/N"

I quickly replied, "Hey, you good?" He shot a thin smile but I can see his face is embedded with beads of sweat, like he's nervous. "Yeah, totally fine. I just want you to know, anything that happens, I need you to trust me" He eyes me seriously. "What? What's going to happen?" He leaned forward, inching towards me and planted a kiss in my forehead, shocking me frozen. After that, the whirring of Grievers came and he ran to its direction, shouting.

He dodged left and right, he's not trying to get engulfed. Not like Gally did. Instead, I see him aiming for the Griever's tail, for the sting.

What are you up to, Thomas?

No one could move, we just watched from the Homestead, stuck to the floor like glue pasted on our feet.

Finally, the Griver stung him in the chest and retreated back to the Maze. Minho and Newt ran like the wind and tried to prop him up quickly on a bed. I see the Med-Jacks already prepared the Griever serum and injects it quickly to his upper hand.

Thomas' eyes fluttered shut, Teresa already beside him with tears in her cheeks, and I'm here pulling at my hair, trying to process everything that just happened.

Note :

I am back y'all! I found the motivation to write again omg and I think I want to make a Marvel related story but I'm still thinking about it because of my chaosness and laziness.

Well this is short again but quite important, after this is the escape and I'm making a surprise which I don't know if y'all like it or not but let's see.
