KATE AND JIM WERE COOKING breakfast together. He was in charge of the french toast, while Kate was scrambling the eggs. The three of them hardly ever sat down together for breakfast, as Kate was either running late for school or Jim just didn't have the time. But they all promised to eat together that morning, so that's what they were going to do.

She wanted to take the time alone with him to talk about the dreams she'd been having. It sounded almost childish, but it wasn't just an every once in a while thing. The nightmares were nightly occurrences – and even when she napped during the day. But Kate knew she couldn't tell her dad this. She wasn't sure she could make it all make sense.

She was brought from her thoughts as Jim began to speak. "Are you and Steve doing anything for Halloween?"

"Me and Steve aren't doing anything ever."

"What happened with you two?" he asked as he plated the food for the three of them. "I could never get the two of you apart, and now you act like he doesn't even exist."

"He got a girlfriend and forgot about me," Kate shrugged. "It's not a big deal."

As the both of them turn around to place the food on the table, they're shocked to see El standing behind them. The girl was covered in a white sheet with holes cut out of the eyes. "Ghost."

"Yeah, I see that." Kate clutched her chest as she walked toward the table, Jim and Eleven right behind her.

"Halloween."

"Sure is," he litled as he got the syrup from the fridge, knowing Kate and El wouldn't eat their food without it. "But right now, it's breakfast."

"They wouldn't see me."

"Who wouldn't see you?"

"The bad men," the two girls answered at the same time.

"What are you talking about?"
