THE KIDS EMBRACED EACH OTHER TIGHTLY. Mike hadn't seen El in nearly a year. He thought she was gone— that'd he'd never get to see her again. And while Eleven had seen the dark-haired boy quite a few times, her visions were nothing compared to having him in her arms again.
"I never gave up on you," Mike breathed once they had pulled away. "I called you every night. Every night for–"
"353 days. I heard," El smiled.
"Why did you tell me you were there? That you were okay?"
"Because I wouldn't let her," Jim answered as he looked at the girl ahead of him. "The hell is this? Where've you been?"
Mike watched with surprise as the older man brought El into his arms. "You've been hiding her... You've been hiding her this whole time!"
The boy ran up to Hopper, pushing his back harshly. He let go of the girl and grabbed Mike buy the collar of his shirt.
"Let's talk," he muttered. "Alone."
Once the two left the room, Kate finally went to hug the girl. She wrapped El tightly in her arms, inhaling the almost overwhelming scent of the hair gel that slicked back her brown locks. "Where the hell did you go?"
"To find mama," she responded, her head pressed against the older girl's chest.
"Did you?"
Eleven nodded and a smile tugged at her lips. Kate pulled back from the embrace, but kept the girl in her arms. She looked down at the girl she'd grown to call her sister – grinning at the new style that looked absolutely nothing like her. "Do you want to tell me how you got this look?"
"Sister."
"Is she in a rock band or something?" Kate sarcastically asked, making El laugh lightly.
The blonde stepped back fully, allowing Dustin and Lucas to wrap her in a group hug. Once the three of them separated, and El was done marveling over Dustin's new teeth, Max walked up to them.
