A whole week flew by and Kareena hadn’t seen or heard from Liam. Miss Tiffendell asked to see Kareena after the lecture, “I’m sure your final preparations are underway since the competition is this Saterday…But now you must allocate your time appropriately so as to not neglect either performance”
“I’m only doing one performance Miss Tiffendell”
“Nonsense…You will be performing a live duet with Mr. Winters as well, as part of his assignment”
Kareena bit her bottom lip and nodded

After grabbing her guitar, Kareena made her way to the forest courtyard that she fell in love with at the party. She strummed a few chords and hummed a tune. She sang the verse of Liam’s song then stopped, “I’m so screwed” she sighed
A bird flew past her and landed on the ground near the bench Kareena sat on, it cocked its head at her and watched, Kareena began humming again and the bird straightened its head
“I think it likes it” Liam said whilst leaning on the back rest of the bench
“You startled me…” Kareena said whilst looking at him, “How did you even find me?”
“Who said I was looking for you?” Liam asked with a smile
“Then what are you doing here?”
“A couple of birds told me there was a girl in the forest traumatizing them- thought I’d check it out” Liam said whilst joining her on the bench
Kareena laughed for a moment before going quiet, “How’s Rachel?”
“There’s nothing to worry about”
“She must have enjoyed having you all to herself huh”
“Well, why wouldn’t she?” Liam asked with a shrug
Kareena didn’t smile at that comment
“I wasn’t with Rachel…the last I saw her was when I last saw you”
Kareena looked at him
“I literally just got back to the academy. I found your friend and asked her where you were”
It was only then did Kareena notice his backpack lying on the ground
“So where’d you go?”
“Home”
“Which is where?”
“In another world”
“Can you ever be serious?” Kareena rolled her eyes
Liam laughed
“So…we’re performing together this Saterday” Kareena mumbled
“Excited?”
“No…but at least I know what we’ll be doing…as for my solo…”
“Just do the song I gave you, put a twist on it….change it up…it’s yours now”
“Is that even allowed? You already did it”
“In my first year…Besides, there’s no rule against doing what someone else did”
Kareena frowned, “I still don’t know”
“You never heard my version of it, so if you think about it, yours will be an original cover of my song” Liam said with a smile
“I guess you’re right…Thanks Liam” Kareena said, feeling better immediately
“Anytime” Liam smiled at her, his eyes sparkling as he looked at her
