Things are escalating.
My hope was dwindling.

He somehow made it back to me.

___Y/N'S POV

It had been a couple weeks or so since Silver told me about the incident. I had been to work everyday, on time, and things were actually fun. Julian was very pleasant company in the morning after he had enough wine. He treated me as both his assistant and his friend. It made me enjoy going to work and even look forward to the next days.

Tyler and I had grown closer as well. He really did change and acted like the sweet little brother I had always dreamed of having. I didn't even realize how much I loved our fun times together until he went back to college just a few days ago.

My parents had gone on a trip and took Bean with them. He had been with the vet after I found him hiding in some bushes just a mile away from the house miraculously. My father was concerned that Bean was at a health risk because he was constantly drowsy. It turned out that he was just getting old and wanted to rest his body whenever he got the chance to do so.

That left me in a somewhat big house, all on my own. Even so, I hardly did much. Most of the time, I invited Silver over or we went out together and we talked, ate snacks, watched Netflix, or played video games. He was great company to have and told me how Red was doing every single day.

I was actually enjoying myself and having fun everyday.

But then something shocking happened.

It was Saturday afternoon and I was playing the newest Mortal Kombat on the much larger tv downstairs. The doorbell rang and was followed by rapid knocking. I groaned and paused the game before rolling off the couch and toppling over on the floor.

I was in a casual gamer shirt and a pair of female gym shorts. I got up and dusted myself off before unlocking the door and opening it up.

My eyes widened and I stumbled back. His heart-melting smile touched me swiftly. His crimson eyes locked onto my own eyes. His whole being left me paralyzed with shock.

The good shock.

He opened his mouth but I cut him off, jumping into his arms and embracing him as tightly as I could.

"R-Red!!" I cried out and buried my face in his chest.

He let out a soft groan but hugged me tightly as well. "Haha... Y/n. I missed you too..." Red rested his chin on my head and rubbed my back gently.

For some reason, I wasn't crying. It took me a while to figure out why that was, but I did eventually. I had no reason to cry over him. Silver had told me about him everyday so I wasn't worried about Red. I was sure that he would recover fast.

Because I knew he would be back in my arms.

"Oh my god... I'm so happy... I-I don't even know what to say..." I laughed sheepishly and looked up at him.

Red removed his arms from around me and instead cupped my face. "Who says you need to say anything babe?" He tilted my head back slowly. I could see a tear running down his cheek and it almost moved me to tears. That's how much he had missed me.

"D-Don't..." His lips cut me off and I didn't resist. I closed my eyes and rested my hands on his chest, moving them up and down gently. I could feel his heart pounding against his chest and it only made me feel so much more happier inside.

We stood there, sharing our first kiss in what felt like forever. I pulled away and broke our kiss first for air, blushing as I reached up and wiped another one of his tears away. "Hey, why were you crying?" I asked softly and placed my free hand over his own that was still holding my cheek.

"Because Y/n, you don't understand how much pain I suffered from not seeing your beautiful smile everyday. I thought my heart was going to explode if I didn't see you!" Red held me close before letting out a shaky sigh. "I-I was so scared of losing you..."

I smiled and pulled him along inside the door. "You're so mischievous babe. You weren't supposed to leave the mansion, were you?" I laughed softly and sat him down on the couch next to my controller.

He chuckled nervously and flopped down on the couch while rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Damn, you caught me red-handed... Look, I'm not supposed to use my legs that much because even though the cast is off, my bones are still healing. My rib cage has seen better days, but I should be okay. You don't understand though! Doc tried to put me on house arrest because of how badly I wanted to get out!" He explained before whining and throwing his head back in anguish. I nodded along while in the kitchen, humming a quiet reply as I fixed him a glass of water.

"B-But! I meant what I said! I swear, being without you was harder than trying to beat all of the Pokémon League combined!" He continued his pointless whining and leaned back further on the couch with a heavy sigh.

"I know, I know you did silly. I believe you... even though you're IN the Pokémon League but whatever... While you're with me, I'll make sure that you're taken care of." I handed over the cool glass before sitting on the floor in front of the couch and grabbing my controller from next to him.

He drank from the glass of water and I exhaled with relief. "Thanks babe. Are you playing Mortal Kombat? I wanna play with ya." Red reached over and tried to take my controller, but I growled and slapped his hand away.

"Don't. Touch. A. Girl's. CONTROLLER!!" I snapped as I mashed buttons rhythmically to form a winning combination, ultimately finishing off the Ryu CPU with Sonya.

"Okay, okay..." He muttered and sat back against the couch once again, drinking from his water and watching me play.

After a while, I put the controller back on the tv stand and stretched my limbs in front of him. "Mkay! I'm all done! What would you like to do for the rest of the day, babe?" I chirped and sat beside him with a smile. Red sat up and smiled as well. "Food? I could go for some takeout right about now." He suggested with a nervous shrug.

I shot him a glare and tugged at his pants, which in turn caused him to blush and shoo my hands away. "I'm not buying food for both of us! I barely make enough money every week to go buy food from the store!" I crossed my arms and pouted. Red was still blushing and chuckled before handing over his wallet to me. "Then I'll pay for us both. Just order it, please?"

My eyes glistened and I pulled out my phone with his waller in my other hand. "Takeout it is then! But wait... What money do you have in here? Pokédollars?!"

"Uh... No. Real money. Like, all of Benjamin's Benjamins y'know? But wow, you sound way too excited to spend my money. You must pay for yourself often." Red wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me on to his lap. I sat my phone down on the coffee table and positioned myself so that I was comfortable on his lap. "Well yeah! I make enough money to... um, sustain, yet I don't make nearly enough to thrive like other people. I'm trying to save up enough money for when I move out... again, and start my own family." I explained with a small blush on my cheeks.

"A family...? Ah, I really want to start a family as well. It's the one dream I hoped to achieve in the future." Red blushed as well and looked away from me. I giggled softly and turned around on his lap so that I was facing him.

"That's so cute. We share the same dream." I cupped his cheeks after adjusting myself once more so that I was now straddling his waist and legs. Red chuckled softly as his hands snaked their way to my waist slowly.

"Must be fate babe." He leaned up and kissed my cheek sweetly.

"Hm? Oh really? Well... Hm... Since when does fate have a boner, Red?"
