___Y/N'S POV

"Gotta call up my boss!" I grinned and scrolled through my contact list. I had a towel wrapped around my body because it was still a little wet from my morning shower and trying to multitask wasn't making it any better. One hand was gripping my phone and trying to search through a list of numbers while the other was sifting through hung up clothes to find a good enough outfit.

"Ah, his personal number." I beamed and called his phone, putting it on speaker while taking out something business casual to put on. The phone rang for some time before a low voice rolled out through the speakers.

"Y/n, what have I told you about calling my phone." His question didn't even sound remotely like a question meant to be answered. More like a rhetorical threat than anything else.

I laughed nervously as I slid into my ruffled blouse and work pants. "Julian, I was just wondering if we could meet this morning for coffee. I have something I want to discuss with you before I return from my vacation in a couple days."

"I'll send a car over then."

The mornings always felt like a rush. They were abnormally stressful for me and I hated being stressed. Having to wake up, shower, and then head Julian's intimidating voice was a little more than I could handle. The only good thing though, is that he agreed with little resilience.

At least I didn't have to scrounge for food like every other morning...

I don't feel so good though...

___TIME SKIP

"Soooo..."

I smiled and placed my hands on the table anxiously. We were up in his penthouse on the balcony, having the conversation I asked for over... not coffee.

"So? Why would you ask to meet over coffee... then proceed to request water instead?" Julian took a sip from his glass of wine and shot me a look that clearly read:

You're a fucking weird Y/n...

He's not wrong though, but I don't care.

"I suddenly got a little sick right after calling you. My stomach is just not in the mood for coffee this morning. And in my defense, you still could've gotten coffee, but you got wine instead." I retorted swiftly before looking away, my cheeks a slightly darker color from their reddish tint.

I heard his husky laughter and I looked up with wide eyes. His shoulders moved freely and shook with his hearty little laugh, his spouts of amusement eventually dying down though.

"Hm, Y/n... You never seize to please me. No wonder I'm so interested in you. Asking for a promotion would cost you though. I'm sure you know what it is I want from you." His eyes narrowed and his gaze pierced my soul. He only looked more intimidating with his glass pressed against his bottom lip as if he was about to take another sip of it.

I bit down on my lip harshly and turned my head away. My fingers began to move more and fidget awkwardly as I gave a gentle shake of my head.

"N-No, I don't..." I refused to meet his eyes and instead looked at the window. It was honestly probably cleaner than my reputation. But as I stared at my reflection, another figure started to appear and take form. One that at first, I was pleased to see.

He flashed me a cute smiled and waved energetically.

"Hey Y/n."

The reflection started to change colors and it went completely black, as if it was a shadow instead. Vibrant red eyes and a red smirk on his face. My smile wavered and shifted into a horrified frown. His energetic wave was replaced with a much slower and creepier one than before.

"Bye Y/n."

"Red..." I whispered, my breath caught in my throat as I frowned deeply at the window.

"Pardon?" Julian raises an eyebrow and snapped me back into reality and out of my trance. I returned my gaze to him hesitantly and gulped silently.

"Wh-What is it you want from me, Julian?" I spoke barely above a whisper and inhaled deeply. The warmth from the sun had left my body entirely and had replaced itself with a chilling sensation of a gust. I hugged myself gently and slowly rose from my chair when I felt the light drizzle come down.

"Rain, is it? Let's discuss this inside, Y/n." He cleared his throat and rose from his chair after me. I walked over towards him and he pushed open the glass door for us both to walk through. The light drizzle that had slowly began, erupted itself into an intense downpour in only a matter of seconds.

My stomach gripes and I let it a quiet whimper. My gaze began to fog up as my eyes clouded over with a mixture of tears and a somber touch when his arm wrapped around my waist, inevitably pulling my closer to his warm chest.

Why did I do this?

I've always hated me life...
