"Wait," Alec breathed out. "So you chose us over your family?"
"Well," I shrugged. "You guys are my family too, you know."
"Aww." he cooed. "That's so sweet."
I playfully shoved his shoulder.
"Just keep on unpacking, you idiot." I huffed, digging through another box.
"Yes, ma'am." he laughed.
Alec and I are working on unpacking the kitchen things and put them in their place while the twins work on building the furniture in the living room.
"Where's the knife block go?" he asked.
"By the stove," I answered.
"Hey Rach?" Nick called.
I walked into our new living room.
"Yeah?" I hummed.
The room is a mess. Boxes and furniture pieces everywhere.
"Did a tiny tornado come through here?" I retorted.
"Yeah," Shade Breathed out. "Two of them actually."
"Yup." Nick chuckled. "Their names were Shade and Nick. I believe that they're still going on as we speak."
"Man," I pouted, leaning back in my desk chair. "I hate paperwork."
I've been stuck on desk duty and I've been able to do some interrogating lately.
At least I'm almost completely done with all of my paperwork. That's a good thing that comes out of this misery that I've been put in.
"You'll survive." Marino chuckled, messing with my hair as we walked by.
"Will I, though?" I hummed. "I wasn't made for a desk job."
"Yes, you will." Marino nodded. "You will be just fine. You have a whole building filled with cops that are ready to help as well as an FBI agent and those other two that you live with on your side and ready to help with whatever you'll need."
"Cookie. My office." Lieutenant Leon ordered. "Now."
I nodded, following him into his office.
"What do you need, Lieutenant?" I asked.
He shut the door before responding.
"Sit down," he said.
"Alright," I hummed. "Now what did you want me for?"
He stayed silent for a bit, just staring at me with sad eyes.
"Lieutenant?" I asked. "What's going on? What's bothering you? What did you need to tell me?"
He stayed quiet for a few moments longer.
"He got out," he whispered. "I just got the call a few minutes ago and felt that I should warn you."
He's starting to worry me.
"He?" I asked. "Who?"
"Peter," he answered quietly. "Peter got out. He somehow broke out of prison."
"Oh," I uttered, my eyes going wide.
What to do?
What to do?
What to do?
I let out an annoyed groan.
What do I do?
What if he tries to come find me and finish what he started?
What if he takes my babies away from me? I don't want to lose my babies.
Marino stepped in front of me and placed his hands on my shoulders.
"Hey, calm down," he murmured. "Stop pacing. You'll get through this, I promise."
I let out a silent sob, clinging to his chest.
Marino hugged me and started to rub my back.
"I'm scared," I whispered.
I've worked so hard to become this strong, I don't want to lose that. Not like this. Not because of him.
He needs to go. He needs to just disappear.
"Shh," he hummed. "It'll be alright."
"No, it won't," I whispered. "He'll never stop haunting me. He'll never leave me alone."
He better not come anywhere near anyone I care about.
I won't let him.
