A third one?
There's three of them?
"Wh-what?!" I exclaimed in shock. "How can there be a third one? I thought that we were only having twins."
Three of them...
She sees three of them on the ultrasound...
"It's not that uncommon for it to be harder to notice three or more during pregnancies." the doctor said. "They can hide behind the front two."
Three, not two, three.
"So, um, so we're having triplets?" Shade asked, quietly. "And not twins?"
Triplets.
"It seems that way," the doctor responded. "Yes."
"Oh, boy." I breathed out.
This definitely changes things.
"I'll, uh, I'll get the third of everything that we need tomorrow," I mumbled. "I'll bring someone along with me so I'm not alone."
"Are you sure?" Shade asked.
"Yeah," I nodded. "Your team needs you too."
"I know that," he said. "But you and our children need me too."
"They haven't even been born yet." I sighed. "You still have another job to do until they're born."
He didn't respond, he just focused on driving.
I sighed, looking at the new picture of our... our three children.
I still can't believe it. I'm having so much trouble wrapping my mind around it.
I mean, triplets.
Wow.
"You still need to put effort into your job, you know," I whispered. "If not, you might get fired from your dream job that you've worked so hard for. I don't want that to happen to you."
"I know," Shade murmured. "I know. I just-"
He sighed.
"I just, I want you, all of you, to stay safe." Shade continued. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you. I just love you so much, I always have."
"I love you too, Shade," I smiled. "I love you too."
"So?" Nick hummed excitedly. "How was the doctor's appointment this time?"
"Fine." I shrugged.
"Just fine? Do we get no details?" he urged.
"We don't have to tell them now unless you want to, love," Shade whispered in my ear.
"Well," I yawned. "We have to go shopping again."
I handed Nick the sonogram picture.
"I'm gonna go take a nap now," I mumbled.
"Wait, Rach, Shade," Nick said in confusion. "What does this mean. I don't know how to understand these things."
"It means three," I answered dramatically. "Three!"
"What?" he uttered. "Three?"
"You heard the woman." Shade shrugged. "Three. The picture means three."
