Ashton was speechless.
Whether it was from my sudden outburst or he didn't know what to say.
Finally, he managed to say something.
"So she does speak," Ashton said with a grin.
"Bite me," I snapped.
Something lit within his eyes, but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
"Now, please, explain to me how you knew him, why did he suddenly have pitch black eyes, how did he disappear into thin air like that, why was he trying to kidnap me?" I rambled on.
He stood up quickly.
"Wait, you saw his eyes turn black and he disappeared in thin air?" He questioned.
I nodded.
He looked down at the floor, thinking.
He mumbled something under his breath and looked back up at me.
He shook his head.
"No, your mind is just playing trucks on you. You went through something semi-traumatic event, your mind made you see what you wanted to see," He tried explaining.
As he spoke, I slowly shook my head, not believe a word coming out of his mouth.
I'm pretty sure he didn't even believe the words coming from his mouth.
"Please, don't lie to me," I echoed his words from earlier.
His hazel eyes seemed to soften at my words.
He sighed and stepped in front of me.
"Fine," He said softly.
He moved a piece of hair that had been come ring my eye to behind my ear before continuing.
"I'll explain everything when the time comes," He said.
His voice was soft and quiet.
"When the time comes?" I asked. "What the he-"
"I think it's time to go to bed," Ashton interrupted.
I raised an eyebrow.
"Time for be-no, I want to know what you mean," I argued.
"In time," He replied tugging me up the stairs.
Koda followed behind us, staying close by.
He got me into my room, and to lie down in the bed, making me realize just how tired I am.
I yawned as Ashton pulled the blanket over me and Koda laid down at my feet.
"Goodnight, Bailey," Ashton softly said before turning around to leave.
I quickly grabbed his wrist.
"Ashton," I said in a small voice.
"Hmm," He hummed looking back at me.
I bit my lip, being a little hesitant about asking him.
"Go on, you can ask me anything," He said noticing my hesitation.
"I'm kind of scared to be alone, right now," I said not looking him in the eyes.
He chuckled and nodded his head.
He went over to the door and kicked his shoes off, leaving them by the doorway.
"There's some sweats in the third drawer down that'll fit you if you want to wear something more comfortable," I offered.
He looked over at the drawer before shaking his head and then giving me a mischievous grin.
"I'm more comfortable how I always sleep," He said pulling his shirt over his head.
My breath hitched in my throat.
He had a nice body and he sure as hell knew that.
He switched the light off, leaving it completely dark in my room.
I heard something soft hit the floor before I felt the other side of the bed dip down.
Being too tired and not thinking, I scooted over next to Ashton and rested my head on his chest.
I felt his body tense under mine and the warmth of his arm hovering above my back.
Snuggling into his side and taking a deep relaxing breath, I closed my eyes.
Finally, Ashton relaxed and placed his arm over my torso, pulling me in tighter.
Then, for the second time today, more unspoken words.
I'll always keep you safe, no matter what.
